  • doing this for real this time!

Hi everyone im new to this site and im on my first day of the new WOE. I recently found out that i have polycystic ovarian syndrome and my doctor said that losing weight is the best way to ease the symptoms of this crappy disease. I've tried atkins before and gave up pretty quick. It's not very easy for me to eat a lot of meat and i'm an admitted carbaholic! I've been reading a lot of the posts on here and i'm super impressed with the results people are getting from this WOE. Any advice or meal ideas would be wonderful and much appreciated. I hope you all have enjoyed the novel i just wrote haha. Thanks

        Hello lexiny81,

I thought I would come over and say hello on your post! I hope you are able to stick to this WOE this time. I too in the past shyed away from atkins because I thought it was all about eating a lot of meat. But when I realized that most meals are only 3-4oz of meat with a salad and veggie like green beans I realized it was much more than and "all meat" diet. My typical menu for a day looks like this:

        Breakfast:

Omlet: 2 Eggs, 2 slices turkey bacon, green/yellow bell pepper, onion, & cheese -or- flax seed pancakes w/sugar free syrup

        Lunch:

bunless hamburger topped with cheese & turkey bacon, green beans, & a side salad w/romaine, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, cheese, LC ranch ( I recently made the Atkins revolution rolls and used them for hamburger buns and it was great!)

        -or-

        tuna cakes w/ceasar salad

        Dinner:

        Cauliflower pizza w/salad

        -or-

4oz pork chop, mock mashed potatoes, green beans or salad

I find that I eat way more veggies when I follow atkins. I had folowed weight watchers for a while but I used my points on horrible foods and ate almost no vegtables. When I am off induction I will start adding nuts and berries.

My favorite site for recipies is The Lighter Side of Low-Carb and my favorite site for inspiration is Sugar Free Sheila. I also love George Stella's cookbooks and Dana Carpender's Cook books...they really make eating low carb enjoyable.

        Good luck!

Re: doing this for real this time!

Thankyou so much for the sample menu that really helps a lot. I think i was eating too many heavy foods the first couple of days and i was feeling kinda yucky but now i'm eating a little lighter, lots more veggies and i feel so much better. And thanks for the sights you posted i'll definitely check them out. I used to watch George Stella on the food network, his show was great they should bring it back!! Thanks again
