  • Ecstatic!

Hi. I've finally joined this awesome forum after studying it and glancing through for about a year now. I finally got excited enough to join and share my own story and great recipes.

I started the diet [life style] 1 month and 3 weeks ago. When I started, I weighed 162 lbs on a 5'3" frame. TOO big! Lol! I now weigh 145 lbs. My goal weight is 118 lbs.

I'm 38 years old this May. And I'm feeeling better than ever! My mother of 62 [in the 300's range] is doing this with me and shrinking steadily. As is my 39 year old boyfriend. We all started together and we're having a ball. My mom hasn't been thin since 1976. ;]

Congrats!!! Just began today - I have a question though, have you done any regular exercise during your first 2 months? I just started a new job that is consuming up mega amounts of time and worry that if I don't excercise 3 - 4 times a week that I won't lose the weight....

I appreciate any advice you have!

likekateandnicole, that's an impressive family success story!!!

Congratulations on your weight loss... on ALL of your weight losses!!!

Can't wait to hear how all of you do as you go along!

            ---

aepole, you might get more responses if you start your own thread. It kind of gets lost here!

You do need to exercise, but there is no rule that it has to be at a gym. Try sneaking in all the exercise you can... stair climbing, parking farther away and walking farther, brisk walks at lunch, etc.

I use a stationery bike... you can watch TV or listen to music while you bike. It's not hard to work it into your schedule.

              Re: Ecstatic!

              Dear aepole,

I do walk around a park near by my house which I trade off sometimes with a treadmill I have at home. I do try to do something for at least 30 minutes, 3 times a week. That's at the very least.

I agree that you must do 'some' exercise. You can find most anything you do 'out of the ordinary' to get you moving will help you burn extra calories. Make it fun...change it up. You'll more than likely get better quicker results.

This is just my experience. My boyfriend works out on a stationary Weslo CardioGlide full body exercise machine 6 days a week. He has lost more effectively than even me. My mom on the other hand is doing just about the same thing as I am and she's losing extraordinarily. Mom spreads her 30 mins out in sections @ 3 x 10 mins. Just so she gets 30 minutes in. She's had all of her levels and weight monitored at our family doctor. Before and after just going to regular visits. He just told her yesterday that she is doing great! She lost 15 lbs. in less than a month. He asked her what she was doing...she of course replied, "Atkins". He told her to keep it up. He's going to watch her progress now.

              Have a great day everyone!

How do I turn this into a thread? Or start one? I thought it was one. ???

                Re: Ecstatic!

                likekateandnicole, this is a thread!

My remark was addressed to aepole because her question was in the middle of your thread and I felt she would get more response if her question weren't buried.

I see she has started other threads, so it's moot at this point!

I think it is wonderful that your mother's doctor told her to "keep it up" on Atkins! That should give her a huge morale boost!

Sounds like you, your Mom and your boyfriend really are committed to this way of life. Awesome!!!!!!!!!
