I'm so happy I've found the ADBB... It's taught me so much in only 2 days!
My story: I've never been skinny, as far back as I can remember. Athletic, outgoing, and all of that, but I've always been the "fat friend." As the years have past (I'm almost 33), my weight has steadily increased, despite admonishments from my doctors (I have a fatty liver) and family. Before Atkins, I estimate* my weight as being near 331 (at 6'2").
I've tried many of the popular diets, to limited success. Nothing really seems to work without keeping me starved all the time.
I decided to finally get serious about my situation when I stepped on the scale for the first time in a long time- and it gave me an "ERR" reading. Meaning: I maxed out the digital scale. My clothes don't fit, I have a hard time tying my shoes, I have bad heartburn at night... All the issues which I'm sure most of you have experienced.
I started low carbing on 2/16/09 at 331 ish, and am now 325 on 2/25.
Judging from what I've learned thanks to you all, I've not been on the Atkins Induction period, despite what I thought. I'm buying the book today and starting 3/2, I'm altering what I'm doing to a by-the-book Induction.
I anticipate the three biggest problems I'm going to encounter are these:
1. Veggies... I dislike them intensely. I've got to find ways to make them palatable.
2. Water... I need to plan ahead for work if I'm going to meet my requirement. I find this difficult.
3. Exercise... I expect this will be easier when the weight comes off, but finding time to do this consistently will be tough.
I'm excited about this new lifestyle, and know I can succeed... With a little support from you! Thanks for listening!
