  • First Timer

I'm 42 years old, 5'5", and about 180lbs. I've never done Atkins before, so I'm ready to give it two weeks without fail. I started yesterday, so I'm feeling very lethargic today. I know it will pass, so I'm not worried. This is kind of funny, but I finished reading the book yesterday and was fine with it... then when I went to bed I thought to myself "Why don't you just do Slim-fast? It's so much more convenient." So I was psyching myself out. Then I weighed myself this morning. I was down 4lbs. I know it's just water weight, but I'll take it. I would love to have more energy and be less obsessed with food, so I'm going for it. I've really enjoyed reading the posts here, and I'm looking forward to contributing my experiences.

    Thanks,
    Janice

Thanks so much for asking! Yesterday I completed my first week on Atkins. I went from 184 to 178.5, which is a loss of 5.5 lbs!

I felt very weak for the first four and a half days. It seems that for me, 8 glasses of water just isn't enough. I'm drinking nearly double that now and I feel much better! I've had no problems sticking to the rules, as my appetite was gone as of day 2. I do notice a sense of clarity that I never had before, and I'm really enjoying it. I just feel completely different!

        Again, thanks for your interest!

          Hello Janice,

I am glad you are still with it !!

As for Slim-fast, just read the ingredients, I can not pronounce half of them.

You said you were down 4 pounds and you know its just water... I would say that
if you lost it you did not need to be lugging it around, so thats 4 pounds your not lugging around, + I would think 4 pounds of water inside you would have to make you look a little bloated somewhere, so it all counts : )

Your doing great, were all in this together. !!

            Hi, Janice,

            Congratulations on the 4 pounds!

Before Atkins, I was always a little bloated. One of the first things I noticed after I started was how tiny my ankles were! So getting rid of that excess water weight was a big deal to me!

Be sure to check out the recipe section so you have all kinds of ideas to keep your meals interesting and delicious. That makes a huge difference in staying happy on Atkins!

            Glad you're here!

Hi Everafter -- you need to get at least 64 oz of water in a day -- that will help your system flush all the nasties out and will get your weight loss going even better. Hope you're still doing well - DON'T drink your lunch from a can when you can eat wonderful tasty meals and snacks...it doesn't make sense!!

                Good luck
