  • day 12

Hi everyone. My name is Erin and I am on day 12 of induction, so far I've lost 13lbs and feel pretty good. I have always been a bit overweight, but also very healthy. Then I got married 5 years ago, had 2 babies and the weight just kept piling on until I found myself at 332lbs the day I gave birth to both my daughters(that's over 100lbs gained in 5years). I am now 100% committed to getting all this excess weight off. So far the hardest part (other than admitting my weight, I never even told my husband)was day 2, and the past few days as my toddler and baby have been sick and I'd love to eat lots of carbs at 4am when I'm up with them. So far, so good though. I am going to stay in induction mode as long as it's working for me In the last few days looking on this site has kept me going. So many amazing before and after shots, and such great advice. Looking forward to sharing this journey with you all!

      Welcome, Erin!

my toddler and baby have been sick and I'd love to eat lots of carbs at 4am when I'm up with them. So far, so good though.
      Now that is really commitment!

Maybe you could keep some deviled eggs or celery stuffed with cream cheese... or leftover chicken... in the refrigerator, and eat them when you are tempted to eat the carbs.

Don't try to go on sheer will power.... it will let you down at the worst times.

The very best to you on your weight loss journey!

          Welcome to ADBB, Erin!

This advice from Sunny is so important, and I couldn't have said it better. You've got a lot going on right now, with the sick little ones... that's got to be rough. You've done such an excellent job so far, and if you plan ahead with some of Sunny's ideas, you will be able to keep your momentum going.

          Best wishes to you!

Thank you, Ladies. You wouldn't believe how good it made me feel that you understand how hard it is with 2 very sick little ones, now they have pink eye from rubbing all the snot in their eyes, ick. But, it's the first time they've been sick this year so we've been very lucky.

I will certainly be adding celery and cream cheese, good idea! I think the only reason the will power has gotten me this far is that I've been through every excuse in the book these past few years and I am so sick of feeling this way. I realized 3 weeks ago(took a long hard look in the mirror) I just had to loose it, no matter what! The low calorie&fat/high carb/exercise routine I tried in the first week did nothing, but Atkins seems to be my perfect match!

I know I lost a lot, but am sure it will slow down and am prepared for that. I think it might have to do with how quickly I gained it all - in my first pregnancy alone I gained 80lbs!!!

Thanks again for the much appreciated support!

Hi Erin! I am a little bit behind you in starting, but your story is one I can certainly relate to. I think what has helped me the most during this initial 5 days, is I spent the whole day on Wed, my start day, preparing snacks and meals I could eat on demand. Well, it is Sunday, and I ran out...lol... but I am going to spend the day today, getting ready for next week. Perhaps my prepped meals will last a bit longer then 4 days this time.

I think the celery and cream cheese is a brilz idea... and deviled eggs... well... yeah!

              Great job so far!
