Hi, all!
I'm doing Atkins for the first time. I've tried other methods of weight loss, but none have seemed to work for me. I've been overweight since I was about 12, and it's only gotten worse as I've gotten older. However, my doctor recently told me that I should look into trying a gluten-free diet because she thinks I have an intolerance. I was always a bit skeptical of this diet, but figured, "Hey, why not? It naturally reduces my gluten intake, thanks to the lack of carbs, and I haven't tried this one yet, so what've I got to lose (besides weight)?"
I'm on day 7 of induction. I'm proud to have made it the last 6 days without cheating once (though days 3 and 4 were pretty rough with the sugar cravings, headaches, and dizziness!). But it was sure worth it! I lost 10 pounds in those 6 days. And I haven't even started exercising yet! (I was waiting for the Atkins "flu" to flush ot of my system.)
I keep track of all my diet "stuff" at SparkPeople. I get to see my daily carb count there (which has been 14-16, mostly, but yesterday and today, I've cut back to about 5 to see how that does for me), and I keep a daily blog there to document my progress.
So, I'm pretty gung-ho about this. I have another 138 pounds to go before I reach my goal (135 lb; no set goal date), so I'll be on induction for quite some time. Glad to be here, and can't wait to start being active here on the boards!
