  • Here we go! Nervous newbie intro

Wow -- I am so glad to find this community! I was gritting my teeth to start doing this solo, but am so encouraged already by the helpful and supportive welcome.

I know Atkins works because I have lived that way before with a muddle of non-excuses anytime I abandon it. I also know that it's totally doable. I have been really resistant, though, to just jump in, but here we go.

I am, like I am sure, most everyone else, overscheduled, and planning for eating well and working out is the first thing to go. I am a teacher and a mother of young children with lots of activities going on. This community, plus fitday and putting a road race goal on the map is my plan to change that.

I have as a long term goal, a big one -- 50 lbs., but mainly I want to regularize my eating, and, for a short term goal: 10 lbs., ideally by Easter.

Thanks to Tom and Mitzi for the initial welcomes.

Welcome to the board, Brianna! You have the right idea in making a plan because without one, it's harder to keep your goals in mind and that's half the battle.

Fifty pounds to lose is very doable and it looks like you are well on your way. Just don't give up!

Congratulations Brianna on beginning your journey on Atkins. I am also a newbie to this community and was also a little neverous when I started Atkins as I had never done it before. But i have found great comfort and motivation in reading many of the posts. My goal is 50 pounds as well and I am on day 23 on an extended induction and have lost 11 pounds.

          You can do it!

Hi Brianna - welcome to . This is a great place to be and you'll have all the encouragement you need.

You say you are overscheduled -- learn to take 5 - 10 minutes a day for no one other than yourself. Figure out the night before what you'll eat the next day -- pack your lunch the night before so you won't be too tired or overstressed in the morning. The program is easy to follow - the food tastes wonderful and the weight will start to fall off of you. Get a small cooler to take your lunch in - pack things that you can have for lunch PLUS a snack to get you through md-morning or mid-afternoon...something you can grab and eat in a couple minutes (rolled up lunchmeat w/mayo or cream cheese is killer for those hungry times.

You'll do great - if you get discouraged or need someone to talk to this board is open all night! It's nice to know that there is someone out there if you need them!

Good luck on your journey -- you seem to have a good goal for Easter!!
