    Re: Want to lose 70lbs

Well the first thing you do is go to amazon and get a copy of "dr. Atkins new diet revolution." read it over several times. It has a great deal of information which cannot be absorbed in a single reading.

Then you should go to a medical doctor and get the following blood tests: Fasting blood sugar; hemoglobin hba1c, fasting insulin test, and c-peptide insulin level. You should also get other tests - especially a check of your kidneys before starting the atkins low carb diet. You should call the doctor's office in a few weeks and ask for the test result numbers and keep these numbers in a log.
if the doctor finds nothing wrong with your kidneys, etc. Then begin as dr. Atkins advises.

then go to walmart and get a $35. Bathroom digital scale that uses 4 load cells to calculate the weight. These are quite accurate.

then it is a matter of sticking with the plan. I have lost over 40 pounds in 4-1/2 months. You can too.

Welcome to , kaviprak! 70 pounds? No problem! You can definitely do that. You should set up your signature. You can go to Quick Links > Edit Signature.

nenad gave you some good advice. Definitely get the book! On ADBB we follow the 2002 version of Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution. I suggest getting a digital food scale, too. I don't know what I'd do without mine!

      Wishing you the best!

Hi kavi you've already gotten some great advice. I'll add, make sure to take your measurements too....they may be changing when the scale isn't moving.

Oh, dear... where are your veggies?

Veggies are so very important! Besides the vitamins and minerals, the fiber helps "move things along". Also, your calories are low, your protein looks high, and it doesn't look like you're getting in very much fat. Are you drinking at least 64 ounces of plain water?

I'd review the book, if I were you. Also, adding some stats to your signature will help us to help you. Here is a link with a lot of good information: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...-new-read.html

                    Good luck!

                      Welcome, Kavi!!!

                      Yes, you can do this!!!!

Do add the veggies and the fat, though. The fat is what makes this way of eating work... it won't work if you try to do it low fat.

For a quick refresher, take a look at the Atkin's Phases section of the board, especially the FAQs and the 14 Day Induction sections.

                      Best of luck to you!
