So I thought Ive been doing so good but when I get on the scale I either gain or stay the same, I lost twelve pounds the first two weeks but since then nothing really. So I sat down and wrote everything Ive been eating and the only thing I could think of was the Cashews, Id grab a hand full here and there. Do you think that its possible that they keeping me from loosing??

How long have you been on Atkins? Are you on OWL? What rung?

Also I assume you are female... how tall are you and how much weight do you have to lose?

Also, how many carbs and veggies are you eating a day?

Without knowing any of that, I would still say that a handful of cashews here and there would definitely add enough to your calorie and carb count to make a difference.

Cashews are one of the highest carb nuts! And you shouldn't be eating ANY nuts until you go through the other rungs first.
That said, it is not unusual for a post induction stall. Review the book, and follow it, you should start losing again soon

When you get to rung 3, seeds and nuts, you are allowed to have one ounce of all nuts and seeds except cashews. You are only allowed to have half an ounce, which is a very small handful. It is very possible that the cashews are stalling you.

How long has it been since you lost the 12 pounds? It's common to have a pause in week 3 and 4. That is why we need to add back in carbs like nuts very carefully. You should be adding more induction veggies on rung 1 and then some soft cheeses like cottage cheese, yogurt or ricotta on rung 2, before trying nuts.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Thankyou everyone, this is my fourth week and Id say in the past two weeks I really havent lost any weight. I need to loose probably about 100pds so I guess I thought it would come off alot quicker. Im done with the peanuts, I usually have a salad for lunch and dinner I have some meat with either asparagus or some veggie and for snacks in between I either have jello or some cheese. I have to start eating breakfast but Ive never really been a breakfast person, and I never have the time no matter how early I get up! I dont want to give up but its so frustrating cause this is the first time Ive actually had the mind set for a diet(lifestlye change).

kellu25, no wonder you are hungry for cashews! It doesn't look to me like you are eating nearly enough.

Do you add meat and cheese to your salad at lunch... and full fat salad dressing? You need to be doing that.

The most important things to keep you from getting hungry are the fat and protein. And if you don't eat breakfast, you will be hungry all evening after dinner.

You've probably heard it all before, but eating a hearty breakfast and lunch is what keeps the after dinner hunger at bay.

I know, because I would rather not eat early, either. But it does make a tremendous difference.

                  Hello Kellu25,
Welcome to ADBB and to Atkins
Do you have DANDR 2002? That is the book we go by at this site.
You shouldn't be eating nuts right now at all. You stated that you are in your 4th week meaning you did your two week Induction, right? After Induction you would then move up to Rung 1 Veggies. Did you? Stay there for a couple of weeks, then move up to Rung 2 Dairy. After Dairy for 2 weeks then move onto Rung 3, Nuts and seeds. See how that works? It's very important to do Atkins correctly to get the results you're meant to get. No wonder you're having problems now. You aren't moving up the rungs correctly.
Here's a Sticky for you to read to get your footing for this woe(way of eating)
BEFORE you begin the Atkins Nutritional Approach...

Please read the book. It will help guide you on doing Atkins correctly.

Post often, join some challenges. A great way to meet people and make new friends.
Also, I would like to invite you to come on over to the Century Club Roll Call and check in each day. We're a great group of folks with lots of support as well.

                    Re: Not Loosing

Hi Kellu25! I never used to eat breakfast either until I started Atkins. And I still don't eat as soon as I get up. I'm up at 6 but don't usually eat until around 9:30 or 10 because I'm just not hungry til then. I treat what everyone else calls a mid-morning snack as breakfast and it works fine for me.

I also stayed on induction for 2 months but after losing 11 lbs. the first 2 weeks, I stalled and lost nothing until I moved up to rung 1. Then the weight started coming off again, so I definitely recommend that you move up the rungs. Those extra veggies do wonders for you!

Good luck and keep us posted!
