  • Atkins Newbie here - started 4/11/09

Hello all! I'm Barb, and I'm just starting here. I have heard of Atkins for years, but my cousin has had great success with it recently so I thought I'd give it a try.

I have been doing it for five days today and I feel pretty tired but okay. Have not had the sickness or anything (so far) like I've been reading in some posts. I live near a beach, and I've walked 3 miles 3 times in the last week. I'd love to do kickboxing again like I did when I was thin, but I've got a long way to go to be able to do it. Hmmm...what else can I say? I am surrounded by people who are totally unsupportive. Friends have no problem bringing cookies and chips into my home when they come over. Anyway, so far so good. I'll weigh in on the 18th and see how well I've done. For now, I'm loving all the things I can eat. Had an egg, onion and cheese omelet this morning with two pieces of bacon. Yum!!!

Welcome to the board Barb! It sounds like you're off to a good start, so keep it up!

Do you have the 2002 version of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution? It's the one we use here on the board and is a must if you are to do it right. It's loaded with all the info you need to truly understand the diet.

So check out the forum, maybe join a challenge or two, drink lots of water and post often.

    See you around!

          Hi, Barb,

          Congratulations on the great start!

I lived on a beach when I was a kid. That's the most wonderful walking there is!

Enjoy a couple of breaths of that salt air for me!

And the very best of luck to you!

Thanks SO much for the encouragement. In response to an earlier question, I read the "Dr. Atkins' NEW Diet Revolution" and am working on reading the "Atkins Essentials" two week jump start book right now.

Are you guys weighing every week or everyday??? I TRY not to look everyday but I can't help myself!!! Just wondering. Thanks!
