  • need self control

    Hi,
So I'm starting Atkins again. I was just on it a few weeks ago and was loosing weight. Then I don't know what happened, I just started eating agian. I was on Atkins a few years ago and followed it no problem. But now its like I'm addicted to food. I can't even trust my own self. For a very short time I was dependant on drinking and just over came that when I realized the dangers of drinking and driving. So now its this food thing.

I really want to follow Atkins sucessfully and not go on a binge and feel guilty and then just give up. I have been exercising a few times a week too, its just the eating.

And I really want to get smaller and be in shape. See I met the man of my dreams 7 years ago, only I didn't know he was the one for me. He liked me though. And I was in great shape back then. Well 7 years later after some dating I realized that he was the one that I adored. But now instead of him having the girl he first crushed on, I'm like 35 pounds heavier. He doesnt say anything and doesnt seem to mind but I would just like to get a little bit smaller instead of bigger, even if I don't get completely back.

Writing this is not only working as an introduction but it is helping me as a reminder of my goals.
So I can't do this on my own, and I hope that I find the support that I'm looking for here.
Also looking forward to getting to know all of you!!

Welcome, but remember the best reason to lose is for you, not because someone else might be happier with a different you. Best of luck as you start down the road.

Always lose for yourself first!!! That's my first goal!
Although my second is to prove to those who I love that I can do what I set out to do. I am tired of saying I want to lose weight and then doing nothing about it!!! Words mean nothing without action!

You can do it!!!!!! Get through the first three days. Once you're in ketosis....you won't want to turn back!

              Re: need self control

We many times trade one addiction for another. That's why when people stop smoking or drinking, they start to abuse food. We can be addicted to carbs. I think food is harder because you can live without ever drinking or smoking again, but you have to eat. And there are so many temptations out there and the smell and sight of delicious foods are everywhere you look.

We can break the food addiction, though. That's why we are all here together.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

                Re: need self control

I'm towards the end of my second day. Thank all of you for your support and comments. It really helps! I was so excited to see your postings.
I remember reading somewhere that you will get a headache when starting Atkins.
I had one this evening and then took a nap. So I guess that is a good sign that it is starting to work.
I also had a doctors appointment today for something else and I asked the doctor what he thought about Atkins. (Mainly I asked him because he was prescribing me a stimulant and I didn't want him to see my upcoming weight loss and think it was from the prescription). So I asked him and he said that it was healthy and alright but that most people gain the weight back in 6 months. (But this is just his personaly opinion). He said that he and his entire staff went on Weight Watchers for 6 months and all but one had sucess and a year later hasnt gained the weight back. Weight Watchers has to do with calories.
I am going to stay on Atkins because the inital weight drop during the induction would be faster then Weight Watchers. But when I reach my goal weight and start eating more free again, I was thinking maybe doing some Weight Watchers recipes for long term maintence. I don't mean to talk about something else on an Atkins board just thought I would share the info with everyone and was curious if anyone had any personal experience or comments. I would like to maintain my ideal weight and not go up and down. Which Atikins maintance may do just fine.
Thank all of you again for your support!!
                Day 3 is tomorrow!!
