    Hi Everyone,
    I am so glad i found atkins. Before i go on how great it is. I want to tell you not to make my mistake. Just cuz it says atkins doesnt mean you can eat it. I had a atkins bar 1 a day for 5 days i didnt lose any weight, then, I found this group and herd you werent suppose to have them. I stopped and now i weigh 223 today.

    I started induction on 3-3-09 at 231 pounds
    I am 8 pounds lighter
    with that 8 pounds gone it took along with it, the pain i had when i had to bend over and tie my shoes, my afternoon naps that 230 pm gotta sleep feeling has gone away and so many other little things.

    I dont eat eggs (allergic) and i hate fish and chicken, so i have had my fair share of beef and pork these last couple weeks. So breakfast is hard but once i realized that a bacon lettuce and tomato salad for breakfast was really good I didnt have any problems.

    but I have a feeling this will change.

    Welcome, Ruthanne

    Well, it looks like you've discovered how "frankenfoods" can do a number on you. This is a good thing, though! Now you don't have to be tempted by them again. While there are some who may be able to get away with eating them, most people cannot. In fact, I can't even eat them in Maintenance... they trigger horrible cravings for me.

    You have done so well! Keep up the great work, OK?

        The key piece of wisdom I try to impart on others is that this diet is first and foremost about fresh foods. Someone said they wanted to buy me a bunch of Atkins products for my birthday...I said no thanks! But I'll take some fresh veggies any time! When I did this back in 97, it was before all the low carb products came on the market...and I did GREAT! And then as time went on, I started introducing these things and never had the continuing success. This time I'm vowing to stay away from them!

        Successfully did Atkins in 1998 using 1992 copy of the book...before it was "hip". Lost 60lbs, exercised daily, felt and looked great. And then I moved in with a junk-food loving man, my mom got sick and passed away, then I suffered a spinal cord injury, and junk-food dude left me...and now I weigh 292lbs. That's 22lbs MORE than I weighed the first time around. It's 10 years later...I know this will work for me again.

            Welcome aboard Ruthanne! I had trouble with the Atkins bars too and gave them up years ago.

            You are on the right track and if you check out the recipe forum and Linda's Low Carb recipe site, you may even find some chicken and fish recipes that you like. I hope you will give it a try because it will make this WOE much easier for you.
