  • Hello from Ohio!

    Hi, all!

I joined the site a while ago and lurked every once in a while. Recently, I finished reading Gary Taubes' Good Calories, Bad Calories and found it very enlightening. I've been doing a semi-low carb to low carb WOE for a while now, but took some time off earlier this year. I started induction this week.

I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis, PCOS, insulin resistance - all that kind of fun stuff. The only thing that helps me to lose fat is low carb - on semi-low carb, I maintain, but don't lose. Which I guess is good news for after I'm at a weight I feel comfortable with.

After being diagnosed with Hashi's and PCOS, I dropped from a size 30/32 to my current 18/20, but summer is coming and I have summer weddings to attend! So - time to get serious about losing the rest of the fat. Yep - I'm clothes motivated!

Anyway - TA DA! Here I am!

Hope everyone has an Atkinslicious day!

Wow, we have a lot in common. I'm also in Ohio, could possibly have PCOS (I have all the s/s), and am I also in the beginning phases of the weight loss journey.

    Good luck to you!

Welcome aboard, lyndyn. Whatever it is that motivates you, this is the place to be for support and advice. And congrats on your weight loss so far! You are well on your way, now just stay on the induction level of carb intake and you will begin your journey to lose all the rest of it.

I am from Ohio (go Bucks!) and also have PCOS. This place is indispensible when you're starting induction. There are so many people here who have had great success with this WOE. Draw on their wisdom!! Welcome!

          Re: Hello from Ohio!

Hello and welcome. I'm from Ohio as well, in the Dayton area.

Taubes book you referenced was one of the most interesting and insightful books I've come across. It should be required reading for anyone interested in the science and politics of our nutritional information.
