  • Day 1 of the rest of my life...

    Hi all!

My name is Kelly and I am just joining this board after a successful Day 1 of induction. I have started Atkins a handful of times, and have lost weight only to gain it back when I slipped back to my unhealthy way of eating. I realized that the satisfaction of finally achieving my goal weight is greater than any temporary satisfaction I might gain by eating sugary/floury junk food. I realize now how short lived that sort of satisfaction is, and I basically feel like crap within minutes of consuming junk. I feel immediately better when following the Atkins WOE, but I have slipped in the past, thinking over and over that I would not gain the weight back if I started eating unfulfilling carbos again! I hope that this board will hold me accountable.

I am getting married June 4th of this year! I know it is very unlikely that I will achieve my drastic goal in that time, but I know even with just 10 pounds gone, I will feel better! This 50 pounds weight loss will likely take a year or so, but I am sure that it is possible! I have a small body frame and will work hard until my goal is achieved!

If you have similar weight loss goals, or if you are a newbie, we can be buddies! I look forward to reading everyone's success stories, even if it's just 5 pounds lost in your first month!

    Welcome, Kelly!

It sounds like you have reasonable, workable goals in place.

The very best of luck to you!

Welcome to the board! And congrats on your upcoming wedding!

You certainly have the right attitude for losing weight and maintaining it once it's gone. We all need to keep reminding ourselves about what carbs do to us and realize it's just not worth the pain. I know you'll do just fine!

Thank you for the warm wishes!!! Of course after the first day of Atkins, I lose 3 pounds according to the scale. My body is so whacky! If only the weight loss could continue that trend!

Wednesday, I had quite a bit of carbolicious food, and a few beers. Thursday, I started low carb. Just by avoiding that junk for one day, my body pees out that inflamation like there is no tomorrow! The actual fat loss occurs much slower of course... this is why I've gotten so impatient in the past! I've just got to ride it through, though!

Welcome to the boards! Last time I did Atkins, I had the same stats as yourself, and I'm sure you'll be surprised how "long" it takes you to lose the weight if you do it right!

I'm sure you'll be in that bikini this summer!

Re: Day 1 of the rest of my life...

I really feel dedicated to the plan this time, but I can't help but doubt myself over and over about the amount of food I'm eating. I've been on Spring Break, so maybe my lack of things to do has attributed to my bigger appetite. I know that I feel much better following this WOE, compared to the junky alternative!

Hi Kelly our weight lose seem to be close we both want to lose 50 pounds. I started 1 week ago and have lost 9 pounds I think that we can help each other get though losing 50 pounds, we just have to surround ourselves with positive people. Let's celebrate one pound at a time.
