  • White Wine!

Hey everyone, I am new to atkins, this is my 5th day and have lost about 2lb already (I think). I do have a couple of questions though:

    1. I purchased some ketisticks and I am having trouble reading them - it looks pinkish to me, perhaps more than the zero colour - is this an indication of Ketosis?

    2. I am still drinking white wine at night, the atklins website says this has only 0.8 carbs per 3floz - would i lose more weight ifI stopped (I am counting them towards my 20net carbs per day).

Anyway a little about myself, I am an english mum of 2 living in Australia and my stats are as follows:

    Current weight: 65Kilo
    Goal Weight: 58Kilo
    Height: 171cm / 5ft 7

Would love any advise - I am quite busy and sometimes I worry that I wont meet my calorie intake and as I work out 5 days per week I dont want to lose muscle - any advise would be great.

    Thans so much,
    Gem xxx

White wine is good stuff but not for Atkins induction. You should follow the rules. Work the programme
The ketostix - any color indicate ketosis. However if you have had alcohol it may just be the alcohol it is registering.
Welcome. Great to hear about the exercising. I think you will do well.

The alcohol will register as ketones for about three days after you drink for the last time. While alcohol, wine specifically, has few carbs, it will be the preferred fuel to burn for energy before your body will burn body fat for fuel. It's not so much about the carbs, but how easy it is for your body to latch onto the alcohol as fuel and ignore the fat, which it has to process.
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.
