  • This will be good!

I came to be a member of this forum by following a link from Bowuf on You Tube. I have been a subscriber of his for a long time but it wasn't until he posted a video about a bootcamp that I became more proactive.

I have had success on Atkins before. About 4 years ago I lost 91 pounds. Then I got pregnant and all of my good eating choices flew out the window. My daughter is now 3 and I am back to my heaviest weight and feeling pretty low. I have tried to re-Atkins several times, making it through induction only to cheat "one time" and fail.

Bowulf's bootcamp launched without me because I was slow to express interest but thinking about making that commitment has spurred me into action. So, I missed the camp. I can start on my own and catch the next one!

Last time I didn't have much information, aside from what was available on the Atkins website. I picked up the book The All-New Atkins Advantage by Stuart L. Trager but when I read the sticky to this thread I guess I need another book.

So, here I am. I am excited about the community support and resources I've seen on this forum and I am ready to go!

    Re: This will be good!

Welcome Loopie. Yep this site uses the Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (I think it is the 2002 edition but I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong on that ). I have come and gone several times and the WOE still works for me, although more slowly now that I am dealing with menopause and all the hormonal joys it brings.

If you are committed to making it happen and sticking with it, you will succeed again. Check in on the site daily. It helps keep you motivated and makes you feel accountable. Also drink lots and lots of water. And do exercise. You will find many caring and supportive people here to help you along the journey.

PS- I just finished the two week (re-)induction. The first three or four days are the toughest. Then it gets easier. Promise.

Jill, no need to correct you, you are right on as usual.

Loopie, Atkins-proof your kitchen and go shopping. You should check out the STAC forum. It's for all of us who have had great success in the past yet for some reason left the WOE and are doing it again. Join us for roll call and we will support you. Last time I did induction I had a blast. There's no need to feel like it's something to "survive". It's the start of a wonderful journy to better health. To put a two week induction period into perspective, the average person lives to be 77 years old. That's 4004 weeks. Two of those weeks is .00047% of your life. Wouldn't you agree that's an incredibly small price to pay to get on the road to wellness? Looking forward to seeing you at roll call.

Thanks for the responses! I reserved the correct book from the library and I have my grocery list all done for a new Atkins friendly kitchen (including lots of snacks, I love to snack). Thanks for the direction to STAC forum I will check it out and leave a post!
