  • Hello on Day 7

Hi! This is my first time on Atkins. I started last Monday.

I've done South Beach and WW in the past, both with initial success... but then my life blew up around me and I fell off the wagon. This time, I HAVE to stick with it, no matter what is going on in my life. I'm heavier than I've ever been.

I'm on Day 7 of Induction, and I'm a little frustrated because I've lost less than 2 lbs so far and I got my time of the month WAY before I was supposed to. I'm in an orthdic boot right now (seems like everyone in retail gets one at some point), so I'm unable to work out.

This time, I will not let anything stand in my way!

Welcome. Sounds like you are doing well. You are losing. Wait to weigh till your TOM is over - that thing almost always makes you retain water and make things hard.

Hi -- glad to see you found the greatest WOE on earth! It sounds like you might be experiencing a couple things right now....first of all, YIPPEE you lost 2 pounds!!! Don't get upset, 2 pounds is great - it's better than gaining 2 pounds which you probably would have done without Atkins this week! Also, the fact that you are having TOM normally causes women to hold weight. You don't say how long ago you stopped the other diets, how much you have to loose, your age, medications your on....all of these might also be contributing. Do you have the DANDR book and are you following the plan to the letter??

There are exercises you can do while in a boot --- upper body workouts, you can also sit on a chair and lift both legs at the same time which will help tighten lower abdominal muscles. Don't give in and don't give up - this does work, there are many of us who are here to attest to it. We don't all loose large amounts of weight, many of us loose slower - but with the variety of food we have to eat it's easy to stay on this plan than any other I've ever been on (and believe me, since I started dieting at age 12 I've been on almost every diet out there).

Like I said before, don't give up -- give it another week and things will turn around!

I think you are doing great! If you only lose 2 pounds a week from here on out, that is still good. I know how it is. It is usually my standard weight loss for my frame and weight. Others will tend to lose more than I do, but you have to push through that. If I could get my husband to join me, he would lose 10 pounds a week probably!!!! Anyway, stay with it. I am on day 6!

Thank you all so much for the encouragement. I will wait until TOM is over to weigh again. I'm also going to start tracking my food at Fitday.
