    Hia all!

This is my first post here on ADBB and I have high hopes for this place helping me out!

I'm 20 years old, female, and I weight 145lbs. Maybe that wouldn't be so bad but I'm 5ft nothin' and my belly and thighs are horrifying to me. I'm also deathly afraid of 'wrap around breasts' and I'm terrified of getting them.

So I'm here to try and help myself out of this mess.

I went on Atkins when I was 14 and lost a good 15 pounds and I've kept most of that off. Hopefully If I lose 25lbs now then I can keep most of it off. (Though I plan on going back to lots of fruits and veggies when I'm done! It's hard eating all this meat with very little reprieve).

I'm dieting alone and I have no support here where I live. I'm terrified I'll fall off the wagon for something simple like a depressing moment where I just want a handful of Goldfish, or a shot of whipped cream.

So please! Help me out here! I need community support or I don't think I can do this.

    <3 to you all,

    Cori

      Re: Dieting Alone in NY

      So glad you're here, Cori.

The good news is that a shot of whipped cream is perfectly legal on Atkins, as long as it doesn't have sugar in it.

The very best defense against falling off the wagon is having a refrigerator stocked with ready-to-grab legal foods like cooked meat, deviled eggs, celery with cream cheese, string cheese, and so forth.

Also put a couple of legal snacks in your purse to take with you so if hunger or depression hits, you have something to eat that can prevent you from eating whatever is available.

Most importantly, if you don't have any local support, is check the board and post often.

Have you gotten a copy of the book and read the rules for induction? Here's a link to where you can buy the book, and here is an introductory article on how to get started.

Good luck on your weight loss journey!

          Welcome to the board, Cori!

We know how hard it is to diet alone, that's why we are all here, to support and inspire each other, so you are among friends.

Above all else, you need to read the 2002 version of the Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution. That's the one we go by on the board. It will fully explain why and how the diet works.

So check out all the forums, drink your water and you will be well on your way to a new you!

Thank you for your support! My fridge is still in transition from crap-food to good atkins friendly food. I'm just afraid of throwing stuff out. I'm so poor I'd hate to chuck things I could eventually eat! But I'm working on getting myself more options.

PS: Is there a limit to the amount of dairy in any way? (Specifically heavy cream), or decaf tea? Or splenda packets (as long as you count them?).

3 Splenda packets per day -- each packet counts as 1 carb

Cream, heavy or light (limit to two to three tablespoons a day; note carbohydrate content

3 oz of cheese per day

make sure you get your 64oz of water in each day

These are all listed in the links Sunny gave you above.
