  • I dont get it

Hi All, Seeing everyones atkins success is awesome. I've now been on it for over 3 weeks and I've been doing the induction phase the whole time, no cheating at all!! The first week and a half I lost 15 lbs and since then I havent lost a pound!!! Clearly its not working anymore....should I start adding carbs into my diet??

Yes... after a clean 2 week Induction, you should move onto OWL (Ongoing Weight Loss). It is not uncommon to slow down after 2 weeks, even if you are still eating the identical foods that you were during Induction... this phenomenon even has a name: PISS (Post Induction Stall Syndrome). I've known many people (myself, included) who have jumpstated weight loss again by adding more veggies.

Have you read 2002 version of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution yet? It will explain the carb ladder. In the mean time, give this a look if you haven't seen it yet: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...-new-read.html

I would also pay a visit to the OWL forum, and read the "stickies" that are stuck at the top of the forum. Lots of good info there.

    Good Luck!

Hi Sparki Welcome aboard. So sorry you are getting PISSed on but yes, it happens to a lot of us. Mitzie gave you some great advice. If you are still having problems, try posting your menu for critique.

Thank you both for the advice!!! What are some vegetables you would recommend adding? I read cauliflower or asparagus? Also, I've been ellipticling everyday, is working out good?? Last question-once I start adding more vegis, is there an average amount per week I can expect to loose? Thanks again!!

          Salad Vegetables
In Induction, you can have two to three cups per day of:

          alfalfa sprouts
          daikon
          mushrooms
          arugula
          endive
          parsley
          bok choy
          escarole
          peppers
          celery
          fennel
          radicchio
          chicory
          jicama
          radishes
          chives
          lettuce
          romaine lettuce
          cucumber
          moche
          sorrel
These salad vegetables are high in phytonutrients and provide a good source of fiber.

          Other Vegetables
For Induction, you can have one cup per day of these veggies if salad veggies does not exceed two cups. The following vegetables are slightly higher in carbohydrate content than the salad vegetables:

          artichoke
          celery root
          pumpkin
          artichoke hearts
          rhubarb
          asparagus
          chard
          sauerkraut
          bamboo shoots
          collard greens
          scallions
          dandelion
          snow peas
          bean sprouts
          dandelion greens
          spaghetti squash
          beet greens
          eggplant
          spinach
          broccoli
          hearts of palm
          string or wax beans
          broccoli rabe
          kale
          summer squash
          brussels
          kohlrabi
          tomato
          bean sprouts
          leeks
          turnips
          cabbage
          okra
          water chestnuts
          cauliflower
          onion
          zucchini
If a vegetable, such as spinach or tomato, cooks down significantly, it must be measured raw so as not to underestimate its carb count.

          * To move onto OWL, eat an additional 5g net carbs worth of veggies from either list, in addition to the 3 cups you were eating in Induction.

** Of course! Working out is GREAT!!

*** About how much you will lose in OWL - that varies widely between individuals. I averaged a loss of between 1 and 2 pounds a week during my entire OWL experience... that meant that most weeks I lost 1 pound, some weeks I lost 2 pounds, and some weeks I lost 0 pounds. Those losses surely did add up, though.

Sparki, its very normal to have this hesitation happen after you lost the initial water weight. Stick to it kiddo, it will start peeling off again soon.
