  • Im new and need help from Canada

    Hello,

Im a 31 year old male from Canada...im 5"11 and weigh 255 pounds.

My journey begins about 10 years ago...weighed just shy of 300 pounds, had sleep apnea..doctor said i need to do something or .

So anyways after having my uvula removed i started atkins but not very strict.

anyways i made it down to 205...been married 5 years now and am up 50 pounds back to 255.

My reason to join this forum is to get help and support and also to give feedback and advice as well.

    My goal is 215 pounds.

    Cheers.

Welcome to the board! Do you have the 2002 version of the Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution? It's the book we use on the board and it fully explains how and why the diet works as well as addressing special issues such as yeast and meds.

Also read the Atkins Phases here on the board to help get you started. Drink 64 ozs. of water daily and exercise is a great way to speed things up.

Keep us posted on your progress!

I agree with the previous poster! Get a copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002). Additionally, make copies of the Rules of Induction and the Acceptable Food List for Induction from the FAQ section of the Atkins forum. Health can greatly improve on Atkins. It sounds like you are ready.

I did this program with the help and support of my husband. In fact, he actually lost about 60 pounds since I have always done all the cooking.

Best wishes as you reach your goal!

Hi SRK735 Welcome to ADBB. I advise folks to keep their Atkins book on top of the toilet tank and read and reread it at every "sitting" Keeps ya motivated and there is always something new you learn that was missed the first time. Since you aren't new to Atkins, you may want to join STAC (second time around club)

Hello. Good luck, we are here and in your corner for you.
I do have a note about Canadian food labels. Read the ingredient list as well as the carb and sugar listings. I have found out that Canada figures that if it is less than one gram it can be listed at 0. My whipping cream is listed as 0 carbs, yet another brand is 1. So be careful with these. The same goes with sugar as well. I have found stuff that lists sugar in the ingredients but not in the nutritional information. If you live close to the boarder, in the USA you can get Coke made with splenda, but if not, Crush makes an Orange, Grape, and Cream soda, with splenda. These can be found at Super Store, Extra Foods, or IGA’s. I found that I still like one with dinner, since I do not drink coffee, I like something else other then just water.
We are happy that you have found us.
