    Hello...New Member...Need Help!!

I am on my 13th day of induction & for the 1st time I'm feeling something new. I've been nauseas....no biggie, slight headaches....no biggie, fatigue....no biggie, but this morning my pulse started rising when I walked up the stairs to exercise. I was doing light walking to warm up & my pulse started rising. I got off & laid down. It went down. Tried to eat breakfast & it started racing again. I want to eat but I just feel full. I don't know if I feel shortness of breath or if I'm just feeling anxious because of my pulse going up & down. I feel as if I have a slight temp....kind of warm all over, it's 98. Other than this, I don't have any of the other symptoms today. Anyway, is this normal?

My Cardiologist put me on this diet. Do I need to stop this diet? Do I need to go to the see my G.P.? I think I'm panicking. Has anyone else had an experience like this?

I don't know anything about prenatal vitamins... do they contain potassium? An irregular heartbeat can be caused by a potassium deficiency.

The potassium RDA is 3500 mg. Do you know how much you get from food?

By the way, can you also post one or two menus? Maybe yesterday and today.

Not a clue.... I'm reading the book but I'm just in chapter 6. I do know the basic do's & don'ts because of this site & YouTube videos. It just takes me longer to read these days because I work full time, & have a 15 mo. old son. The only time I have to read is when he goes to sleep at night. Of course, I read a little bit then knock out. I also read while on the treadmill, however, today was the exception because of how I was feeling.

You can use FitDay, DailyPlate or some similar online tool to track your foods. They will tell you how many carbs, protein, fat, vitamins, minerals, etc. you are consuming.

If you post a menu, I can enter it quickly in my FitDay and see what I get.

That roughly gives me 2700 mg of potassium.

Atkins also has a diuretic effect, so you are losing a lot of electrolytes in the first two weeks. Many foods acceptable during Induction are good sources of potassium, e.g. avocado, spinach, sardines. You could also use a salt substitute, because they usually contain potassium chloride.

Thank you so much Georgiana!!! I was so scared this morning. I didn't know what was happening to me. Even though I still don't know what's really going on your responses kept me calmed & centered. I so appreciate you identifing the lack of potassium I'm consuming because that could very well be my problem.

BTW, I use Morton Lite Salt. It contains 350mg of potassium.

Thanks from the bottom of my rapid heart beat! Ha! (JK, since we've started communicating my vitals have returned to normal.) )
