  • Another Newbie :)

So I got the message from Tom that I need to say hello to everyone So here I am!

My name is Nikki. I am 29 and married to Philip (hence my username) with 2 adorable daughters, Ava - 3 & Ella - 9 months.

I started induction on Sunday - and am having a mild freak out since I started reading this board....I ate one of the atkins bars today (thinking it was ok ) Is this going to totally screw up my induction if I eat just one? Do I need to add a few days to induction now to make up for it??

TIA everyone and I can't wait to meet you guys!

    Welcome, Nikki!!!

No, I don't believe you should restart induction. Just get back on track and I think you'll do fine.

So glad you joined us! And GOOD LUCK!!!

      Hi Nikki and welcome

Don't worry about the bar. Just keep going forward with induction as usual. Don't let it worry you

Hi Nikki I agree....just keep going, stash the rest of your bars in the freezer.

Hi Nikki -- if you don't put the bars in the freezer throw them in the trash -- it's sad that so many of us buy them thinking we can use them and find out we can't! I had bars and shakes ready.....oh well!

Stay on plan the rest of your induction and you should be fine. Good luck on your journey!

Luckily I did buy just one bar to try it before I bought a whole pack....will I be able to use them at a phase of OWL or are they off limits altogether??

Thanks again so much for the welcomes! I am so excited I have made it to day 4!! This does get easier post-induction right? Right now I am having a lot of stomach pains at night...I figure its that "induction flu" everyone talks about.

The bars contain soy, which is an OWL Rung 6 food. But even when you reach OWL Rung 6, keep in mind that these bars contain a lot of sugar alcohols. With sugar alcohols, one is in a lose-lose situation -- you either eat them and spend your day... err, *cough* *cough* "on the throne", which means you are not metabolizing all of them, or you are fine, but that means you are metabolizing them as net carbs. Real food is a much better option.

Yippee! Congrats for day 4. Yes, it gets easier with time because you are less tempted by "illegal" foods and you just feel better all-together. I'm not sure about the stomach pains... I heard others complaining about them during Induction and they said things got better as they progressed in this WOE. Could they be a reaction to something you eat?
