  • New here, on day 2 of induction

    Hi all,

Greetings from New Zealand! I'm on my second day of induction. I've already done a heap of research in addition to reading the book, and these forums keep popping up so I thought I'd best register!

Am keen to talk to other New Zealanders about their experiences with products available here as I'm having difficulty finding things I need (like drinks that contain Splenda etc...) but already I see there is a huge amount of info among members and can't wait to share experiences with you all

Hi GHB -- welcome . I hope you are able to find others from New Zealand that can help you find what you're looking for. During induction stay away from any Atkins products sold in stores (shakes, bars, etc) they aren't allowed. Also soda can make you loose slower than ice tea or water. Clear water is the best thing you can drink, it keep your system moving properly and helps get rid of the nasties!

You said you read the DANDR (Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution) book which is great! Make sure you eat only food that is allowed, drink at least 64oz of water a day and get some form of exercise everyday. Hhere are a couple links for beginners that might be helpful to you:

The Rules of Induction can be found here:

The Induction Acceptable Foods List can be found here:

    Good luck on your journey!
    Carole

      Thanks for the welcome imagood1!

One problem - I've had 2 atkins bars, the meal plan on the website suggests certain ones for phase 1. Should I stop doing this for maximum effect? I don't normally have much of a sweet tooth so cutting them out isn't going to be a problem for me...

I just want to check with what imagood1 said regarding exercise - I am still on iduction and have 2 small children. I go the gym and work very hard 3-4 times per week. I dont really have time to much else - is this acceptable?

            Thanks you,
            Gemma

Re: New here, on day 2 of induction

I'm no expert but busy people (e.g. those with small kids) tend to get more exercise than they realise through their regular daily activities. I do about 30-40 mins of exercise each day just going to and from work on top of the scheduled exercise I'm doing. So you might want to re-look at where you're doing more exercise through your daily routine. I'd say 3-4 times at the gym probably means you're doing a lot!

I agree with GBH -- you get more exercise than you think you do. Get a pedometer and track how many steps you take daily. I was surprised when I walk nearly a mile everyday...amazing!

I like the dancing thing...I do this a couple times a week -- you get great exercise and it's fun!
