  • New...but not to Atkins

Hi all! I thought I'd drop in and give a little background on myself...

First off, I have been on Atkins before...with great results. I was not overweight, but had a little pudge that I wanted to be rid of. Because I was at a normal weight range...no diet I tried worked. Atkins was different, though. Induction helped take off that 10 pounds of pudge I was dying to lose. However, about a year after I got those great results...I became pregnant with my first child, my DS Nathan! Needless to say...I gained about 30 pounds during the pregnancy. Because I breastfed my son for his first year...I didn't lose any of the baby weight. It has stuck with me and is haunting me to this day. My DS is 13 months and not breastfeeding anymore...so I have decided that it is time to get rid of this nasty weight.

    That leads me to now...
I am 145 and am looking to lose the 30 lbs and then some. All together, I'd like to lose 40 lbs...to take me down to 105. I am 5ft 1...so this is a reasonable weight for me. I have been on induction for 5 days now...and have only lost 3 lbs. I am sorely disappointed! Last time I lost atleast 5 lbs by day 5. I eat significantly less than the 20 grams per day....so I don't see where I'm making an error. I could really use some encouragement and support to keep going on this diet.

    Re: New...but not to Atkins

Time is supposed to be a great healer but when it comes to metabolism that is not true what worked some years ago may not work again when it comes to weightloss. Also becoming a mom has changed you and things are different now. Just have some patience and go easy on yourself. 3 lbs is great. It is going the right direction. Don't eat significantly under the 20 grams per day. That is not going to help you. Your body may actually need to veggie carbs to let go of the fat.

Thanks so much for the encouragement! I think my biggest issue right now is food choice boredom. I'm getting sick of pork rinds and egg salad as snacks.

Start thinking of food as fuel. Get your "entertainment" somewhere different. Go for a walk, listen to the birds, play with Nathan. I saw your other thread and you will get plenty of good ideas of things you can do to spice things up too.

Wow...ya know...I had never looked at it that way before! I guess I sort of do eat to stave off boredom.
