  • Halfway there ... trying to keep the momentum going

I've been on Atkins since a couple of days before Jan 1st and have lost almost 30 pounds with induction. This is the first time I've been successful in losing weight in a very long time. I telecommute full time which means I'm too close to the kitchen and am too sedetary while working long hours. I went on Atkins because I was becoming so uncomfortable with myself that I was staying at home more and more. I realized that if I didn't change something, I would not be living a full life ... not the life wanted to live.

Atkins works well for me since I am eating real, fresh foods and feel satisfied (most of the time). I do get hungry when I don't eat as much as I should or go too long without eating. I've been able to travel, eat out, have dinner with friends and continue to stay on the program. I'm so grateful to Dr. Atkins and the passion he had for this lifestyle. My life is better and I believe that even with some bumps along the way, I can do this!

My biggest challenge is exercise. I like to walk but the early spring pollen is keeping me inside... that and many other excuses. I know I won't be healthy unless I make the commitment to just get moving. I'm almost there...

    Hi, BL

It looks like the Atkins WOE suits you! Well done.

Exercise is my biggest hurdle, too. No doubt about it, though... I do look and feel better when I finally get consistent with it.

    Thanks for sharing your story.

Welcome to the board, Blawlor! And congrats on your weight loss and your sticking to the diet.

I know how hard it is to stay away from the fridge when you're at home all day. That's why I keep a glass filled with celery in water at eye level so I can just grab that when I find myself looking for a snack!

Keep us posted on the second half!

Congratulations, BL, on your loss and your commitment! I'm impressed!

If your allergies bother you too much outdoors, you could get a stationery bicycle and exercise while you watch TV or listen to music. I have a little table that fits over my bike that holds the remote, a clip on light, and my crossword puzzles.

You will feel so much better once you get used to exercising!

Hi Blawlor! COngatulations on doing so well! Excercise is the killer for me as well. SOmetimes when nobody else is home (which isn't very often), I do the workouts on my On Demand cable. It's not a lot, but it does make you feel better. Half of your weight gone is AWESOME! Just imagine how great you'll feel when you lose ALL of it!
