  • Newbie!!!

Hi I am new here. I was google searching answers to my questions about Atkins and it always led me to one of your guys' forums, so I figured I'd join. I was doing less than 20 carbs a day since Sunday, so today would be my fourth day on induction. I don't think I ever hit ketosis, but today unfortunately I drank a beverage that had a lot of sugar in it and I did not know it. I am still figuring out which foods have carbs versus which don't. So, looks like I am going to be starting day one of induction tomorrow lol.

    Anyone else starting tomorrow??

    Re: Newbie!!!

Good luck! I'm on day 14! It was a journey, but I love the results not only physically but psychologically. I have to cook carbs for my family & I'm never tempted to taste. I don't even lick my fingers.....have no desire to that anymore. It's so liberating to be in control of my appetite. I can now focus on more important issues. Food is now just for nutrition as it was meant to be. I have had issues with my potassium levels but have started eating more potassium enriched foods like, tomatoes, avocados, sardines, etc.

Stay focused one day at a time. Plan your meals day to day. It went by so fast for me that way. I plan on staying on for another week or two, or till I stall. Either way, I'm just so happy my Dr. prescribed this diet for me.

    Best wishes!!!

      Welcome, Sunshines!!!

Do you have the Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002) book? If not, you really do need to read it. The more you understand how and why the diet works, the easier it will be for you to make decisions and correct mistakes. Amazon.com: Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution: Robert C. Atkins: Your Store

Also, we have an Atkins Phases section of the board that will get you off to a great start! The following article is a must read!

It has links to the rules for induction and the allowed foods list, along with hints for reading labels.

So glad you found us, and I look forward to following your progress!

          Re: Newbie!!!

Thanks guys for the support! I am definitely in the starting stages. I don't even own a scale, so I probably should get one of those LOL. It may be helpful. Then I can have a cool ticker like you guys have and actually track my progress.

I will read those links for sure. Thank you guys!
