  • Wanna Get it Right This Time..

I have been on the Atkins before, and had alot of success. Somewhere along the line I ingested some sugar carbs, kicked my addiction back into high drive, and convinced myself I didn't have to watch my sugar catb intake anymore.Well here I am ??? years later back on it and doing well. I found this website, and found that I have my fat ratio's completely off from what I remember. I thought I had remembered the basics to induction, but if anybody has any information they feel might help me along I would really appreciate it. Info like....Is it okay to take Konsyl fiber during induction? I'm losing weight, but I just know there are little things I am forgetting. Also, any recipes with the proper fat ratio would really be appreciated as well. I just need to talk to somebody ehose been doing this for awhile so I don't feel so alone on this journey. I've lost 100lbs in 3 years but this last 100 is just not as easy.

Konsyl is a psyllium fiber supplement, so it is allowed during all phases of Atkins.

About the percentages, I wouldn't worry. Rough values you should aim for are 65% fat, 5% carbs and 30% protein, but you don't have to make them perfect for each individual meal. It's okay if, at the end of the day, you are somewhere close to where you should be with them. Nothing will happen if you have a day with 70% fat or 33% protein or 9% carbs.

Did you read the book? Here we go by Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution, 2002.

Congratulations for losing 100 lbs! That's fantastic!

Thank You Georgiana. I read the book about 3yrs ago,and gave the book to my brother. I restarted thinking I could just make a go of it from memory, but I see now i'm gonna have to figure out how to pay for another copy. Do you have any sample menus with proper ratios I could steal from ya? I've been eating alot of eggs, chicken, and cheese(I am on a STRICT budget,so instead of fish I have been taking alot of omega oils)and spinach. I just dont remember the quantities the way I thought I would. I read tonight that I should not eat more than 3-4oz of cheese a day. If that is correct then I have not been doing this properly since there were 3 or 4 days I ate considerably more than that to fend off a sugar attack. Any bit if info you could give me(no matter how insignificant it seems to you) would help me tremendously. I feel like i'm halfway there, and my memory is the only thing holding me back. I have a slight neurological problem that makes it difficult for me to remember sometimes, but once I see certain things it starts to click for me. Again, thanks for the info on the fiber.

Here are the rules of Induction: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html
And here is the list of foods acceptable during this phase of Atkins: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...induction.html

If you go to the "Review My Menu" forum, there are menus posted there. Read them and the comments following the original posts. That will give you an idea about what you should be eating. You could also post a few of your menus (incl. quantities) in that forum and others can make suggestions on what can be improved.

Welcome to the board Toytoy! And congrats on your amazing loss so far!

As for fish, tuna is relatively cheap and tuna salad made with mayo is a staple of mine. And eggs are great too because you can make so many things with them, like deviled eggs, egg salad, omelettes, even for supper, quiches and of course, fried, scrambled, hard boiled, poached, etc. The diet doesn't have to be expensive to be done right.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.
