  • Biggest loser contest

Other than the fact that I need to lose 48 lbs, I am in a biggest loser contest at work. There are a lot of serious competitors. I am working out an hour a day in the weight room on the eliptical, weights, treadmill and bicycle. I have until June 23rd to win. The winner is the one who has the biggest percentage of weight loss by then. Some people are eating 600 calories a day. Others are working out 3 hours a day. So I have my work cut out for me. Anyone have any ideas on how much I should eat to stay in the competition?

eating only 600 calories a day is dangerously low. sticking with the atkins plan, accurately is the best way to go,, IMO.

      Welcome!

Best wishes on the work BL challenge. Sounds facinating and motivating.

Check out the forums around the board about induction and OWL rungs (we don't live on Induction or eat just meat and cheese, or just consume low calories...contrary to popular belief). Atkins is a way of eating for life with a combination of changing life habits. I wish you great success as you embark on changing life habits and feeling healthy...and winning the BL challenge losing weight the right way. Whether or not you win or lose, though, just enjoy the fact that you're making these changes for you!

      Cheers!

Hi Nene Those folks doing 600 calories a day will regret it. They will screw up their metabolisms, and when they add calories back they will balloon up. Don't join them in that! Following Atkins induction to a T is a safe bet for you, and the exercise you are doing is great! Don't skimp on veggies, keep your percentages right, and good luck!!

Welcome -- I hope you haven't joined for a quick weight loss because that's not the way Atkins works. Read the DANDR 2002 edition book and learn the rules. Following the plan and exercising will bring you the weight loss you are looking for but this is a long term commitment, not a contest.

          Good luck

Just want to assure you that I am not doing this for fast weight loss. It is the only diet I have ever I have ever been able to stick to. Unfortunately I let Thanksgiving and Christmas goodies take control of me. I appreciate your concern. I am just starting back. It will be a week tomorrow.
