  • Hi, i'm new :)

    Hi all

My name is Kat and I'm new to this forum but not new to Atkins.

I really love Atkins - I love how it gives me more energy, and I love knowing I am losing weight at all times - even if slowly! But I often get knocked out of ketosis for various reasons, and I really want to make this my way of eating for life so that's why I'm here at this forum! I mean, I would like to be a 'mature' Atkins woe person, and not just someone who tries the diet to lose a bit of weight. I need to be more dedicated and more informed on other foods options so I'm not tempted to quit! And this is a great site for that

    My Atkins journey so far:

I started because of unstable blood sugar, and I wanted to lose weight. That was a year and half ago. Well I stabalised my blood sugar and lost weight, but it's taken me that long to realise that I may be insulin resistant and on the way to diabetes (It never even occurred to me I might get diabetes). I have been on and off since then due to various things ie Candida, thyroid problem (reverse T3), and chronic fatigue.

I tend to lose the weight and then gain it back after getting knocked out of ketosis - I struggle with a few things. One of them is trying to find substitutes for regular food like pasta etc I now have access to shirataki/konnyaku noodles which is great, and substituted milk chocolate for sugar free dark chocolate. Having these on Atkins is like heaven! Losing weight while still eating pasta and chocolate... who would've thought.

I'm going to have a look around the forum and see what gems I can find!

Thanks to everyone for such a great site/forum.

    That's all from me!

    Welcome to the board, kat.s!

Atkins is definitely the diet to help with health issues. Be sure and check out the recipe forum for meal ideas and subsitutes for pasta and sweets.

And check out the exercise challenges and remember to drink lots of water!

welcome kat - hope you are able to keep in ketosis. Diabetes is nothing to mess with -- wish I would have listened when the doctor told me I was "borderline".....but I'm listening now!

        good luck on your journey
