  • Hi there! I'm new to site but an old Atkins Fan and success story. Off the wagon!

I'm getting back on the wagon after having been off way too long. I've lost to 175 (5' 11") many times in the last 20 years. At 229 it is real easy to stop in at the bakery or at the convenience store for ice cream. My best date since I became a widow (almost 6 years now) has been with Ben or Jerry. They are really too much for me though!! I have always been able to get back to the program when I have had a wedding to attend, a three week overseas English vacation, etc... but never just for my everyday life. I always found that 48 hours is all I needed to jumpstart but now find myself weak, weak, weak after that. Now it has to be about being an example too. It's always been about tomorrow but tomorrow is now here. I keep hearing my daughter come home from work (now that we are housemates) talking about open chest codes and heart surgery and all that yuck stuff. Blocked arteries and such. I don't want her standing over me one day seeing that. I'm hoping this approach will help me. New one for me to be part of this dialogue. Got to git-r-done.

Hey there and welcome! Yeah, nothing like the thought of an angioplasty to get your attention ! Temptation is everywhere, for sure. Make sure to check in with the Board often ... every day is good. Can't have too much moral support and good info, right? Good luck ... you can do it !

Na Na Tay, it usually takes something powerful to get our attention and motivate us to get serious about our health.

Welcome back onto the wagon. It's a good ride.

Thanks for the encouragement. I know I always feel better after the first 48 hours. This morning was eggs with cheese. Gonna be going to grocery store later. Hope it will be better than yesterday. Bought 14 cookies with coconut and pecans and ate them all. That's shameful. And I'm supposed to be adult. LOL
