Hello, I am lindsay and I have been "doing" Atkins since Jan. 6th. but am new to this board. I am also a member on another Atkins forum and have valued the support of having a community. Just branching out a bit. I have struggled...not with what I am allowed to eat- I love this way of life, the foods I can eat and the way I feel. I have tweaked and tweaked and tweaked my foods from day 1 in order to keep the scale moving at a snails pace and it is hard to stay encouraged while watching others fly by. I know, I know...I cant control my body. I am in OWL in the sense that I am up to 25 net carbs; However, in order to try to eliminate problem foods that could be causing me to stall- I have eliminated cheese, salad dressings, cream, caffiene, splenda, products, etc...to add back in 1 at the time ONCE i start losing again- I have been doing this 2 weeks now without adding anything back in. I hope I can add some things back soon as this eating is much more restricted than Induction ever thought about being. Maybe hoping to get some additional insight from new folks in this forum?

    Nice to join you here.

    Re: New here

    Hi, Linday,

I'm new to Atkins myself, so I can't offer any advice. However, nice to see you here and I look forward to seeing your continued (however slow) success!

    Cheers!

      Re: New here

What I would do Lindsay is go to this forum Review My Menu - Atkins Diet - put in your daily meals and someone might be able to find the culprit to you not losing. I did a clean re-induction BUT that was because about a month into Atkins a bad virus went through our home and we were all sick with it (it had nothing to do with Atkins - it was a virual thing - I'm the only one on Atkins in my home). Because of the virus I didn't loose weight and once it was gone I was out of keotsis.

I would recommend you have someone on the Rate My Menu site to look at your foods first -- be honest and give all amounts of food you eat. How much fat are you getting? Are you varying your veggies so your body isn't getting use to only 2 or 3 different foods?? Hope this helps.

Hi Lindsay I agree, post your menu. Are you keeping fairly close to the ratios? Drinking loads of plain water? let us take a look!

You could just be going through an adjustment period. Our bodies stop from time to time in order to readjust to the new weight.

I agree with the person who suggested you post a menu. That or just make a list of the common foods you eat on a daily/weekly basis. There could be something in them that causes slowdown. You eliminated the most common (cream, cheese and caffeine). Are you eating flax meal? That can slow some people.

Also, are you eating enough vegetables to support the current rung's ration (assuming you're only on first rung at 25 nc daily)? If you're not eating enough vegetables, it can slow your progress.

Next, are you drinking the necessary amounts of water for your weight? Half your body weight or 64 oz.

And last, are you eating the recommended calorie minimum per day? Sometimes we don't eat enough to lose weight. Sometimes we need to go over the minimum and eat a whole lot more. I often eat into the 2100 zone, but average about 1800 or so. If you're eating healthy foods that conform to the diet, then you needn't worry much about calories. Conversely, if you were going nuts with the cream and cheese and were way up in calories then it could be that you need to tweak things down a bit in heavy foods and concentrate on lean meats and lots of veges with minimal sauces, oils and mayo.

Be patient with your body. It will happen.

            Re: New here

Thanks for the tips and suggestions everyone. I am going to post my fitday journal link in the thread yall provided. Here it is here in case anyone wants to take a look- i am at 25 net carbs per day and because i dont eat any of the "other" carbs - almost everyone of them comes from veggies most of the time. i drink between 85-90 ounces of water per day. when looking at my journal, skip the 4th and 5th as i keep a written journal on the weekends at home instead of online. thank you sincerely for any help you can provide.
