  • In need of some support

    Hi all,
I did Atkins last year (New Year's Resolution) and did great until about the end of April then I lost all will power and started eating anything and everything again. Of course I gained back the 22 pounds I had lost plus some. My husband and I became separated earlier this year and I have been eating more than ever! It's not emotional eating, I've just been going out too much with friends.

    Anyway...
I want to jump back on the bandwagon and do this again. I felt so good after dropping the weight last year. I'm just worried my will power is going to falter. Last year my husband was doing this with me so I had some built in support (kind of), but now I don't and I've already found it harder.

Today is kind of my Day 1 of induction again. I say "kind of" because I need to go grocery shopping to make sure I have what I need to stay on track...veggies, meats, cheeses, etc. I really want to do this, but I would love some encouraging words.

Thanks and I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Hi Caroline.. on the dreaded going out. That's where I got heavy in the first place, too many buffets with new husband! My condolences on your marital breakup, but change can be good or bad depending on how it is handled, which I am sure you already know!

We are all here for advice and to support each other, and you are in a good place. You might like the Second Time Around forum, you certainly qualify! Drink plenty of water, reread your book, go buy your 'list' foods and we are here for ya!

Re: In need of some support

Welcome back, Caroline! If you eat lots of fat and protein and keep your carbs under 20 grams for the first two weeks, your appetite will diminish and will power won't be an issue! That's what's so great about this diet, it doesn't take much will power because you are always full!

Be sure and check out the Second Time Around Club for advice from those of us who have done Atkins before. And the Food forum has some great ideas for meals you maybe never thought of before. Good luck!
