  • Just Started 15lbs first 2 weeks of induction have a question.

    I did the Atkins diet when I was 19/20 years old and got down to a goal weight of 215. That was 10 years ago. Got to the big 3..0....0 and decided to change my life. I have done the induction (I did 3 weeks) and have lost 15 lbs.

    My first goal has been met. 10% in induction.

    Second goal, more long term, 235 lbs. so I have 50 to go.

    I am 30 years old, Male, 6'1". Is this realistic? Should I set a time goal?

      Hi Welcome aboard! Great loss so far
      Lots of folks set mini goals. Just understand that your body may or may not cooperate!! Mine "obeyed" the rules for the first year. Now I'm losing at a snails pace...but hey, I'm losing. Remember that this is a lifelong way of eating, and try to adhust your patience and expectations accordingly.





      290 lbs. on 11/02/07 Goal: 145 lbs. or size 14 whichever comes first!

        hey Bone -- welcome great loss on induction .

        I feel it's best to set smaller goals so you aren't just looking so much at just the big picture - that can sometimes get too overwhelming and make you not want to finish the job you have started. Why not split the difference and have a mini goal of 260 -- celebrate with a new cd or movie -- something you've been wanting...then make the other 25 pounds your 2nd positive goal (the 1st being your 10% loss on induction).

        It's wonderful that you have decided to get ahold of your life by taking control of your health. You have so much of your life ahead of you - don't wait until you are middle age and then wish you had done something about it before you are on a handful of pills a day and it's so much harder to loose it.

        Good luck. Check the recipe sites so you don't get bored with the same old food - learn to eat new things, cook with new spices, change your tastebuds as you go through this WOE.
