  • Ready, Set, Run your A$s off!

Hi everyone, I am Spoons4Life a.k.a. Naomi. I am tired of being overweight despite the fact I am active duty military. I battled with hyperthyroidism for about a year. I lost 30lbs in a month which sounds great but the number of side effects to include your heart nearly expoding weren't so great. I am better now, in remission, but I gained back all my weight. Once my doc cleared me to begin working out again I haven't really lost anything but my legs are getting leaner. I used Atkins to drop 30lbs to join the AF so I know it works. I am starting induction today and hopefully will drop 20lbs by June. I have a PT test in May and I have been running a lot and my time gets better every week. Almost at 6mph pace for my 1.5 mile.

I have a wonderful husband who loves me no matter my weight and our gorgeous daughter who needs to learn a healthy way of living. I plan to use Atkins to jump start a change in life. After my induction and following the rungs I may not follow the diet but instead just eliminate refined sugar and flour which is a vice anyway.

I am starting out at 218. My goal is to break below 200 before June 11th. I am 5' 10", 26, and run at least 3x's a week (1.5 mi minimum). My tummy is 37.5 and hips are 46.5.

    Any advice?

hi and welcome Naomi -- it's good to know you are getting back to healthy living. Don't be so sure you won't continue this WOE -- after you have been on plan for awhile your tastebuds change and the things you really think you can't live without now you won't even want.

It's great you are teaching your daughter good eating habits early - I wish our home growing up would have been that way! Thank you for your service to our country - I I was a WAC - did my basic training at Ft Jackson, SC many years ago.
