    Hi everyone,
    I'm glad to find this support page. It's already helped. I'm going to stick with this for 14 days before throwing in the towel!

    Glad you like the page. It is not unusual not to see things happen the first 3 days. It can take more days to get into ketosis. Make sure you are only drinking water and that you are eliminating all sugars (hidden sugars) from your diet. Fats are often a key so don't skimp on those either.

      290 lbs. on 11/02/07 Goal: 145 lbs. or size 14 whichever comes first!

        I think one of the most common mistakes is definitely not eating enough fat. LIBERALLY include fats in all your meals. It is the ratio of high fat to low carb that puts you into fat burning mode.

        You can do it.

          welcome gt -- the plan is very easy to follow and we eat delicious food...by the end of your induction hopefully you won't feel like throwing in the towel - you'll be hooked like the rest of us.

            Welcome to the board!

            Please don't let impatience keep you from doing the best thing you can do for yourself. Sometimes it takes a little tweaking of the diet to get to where you are losing weight. Are you maybe eating too much cheese? I had to cut back on it because it was stalling me, so just try a few adjustments and see what happens.

            Good luck and keep up posted on your progress.

              Don't give up! Give it a fair shot, really you won't be disappointed. I am post menopausal, and it should be hard for someone like me to loose, but it hasn't been at all. Just follow it closely to a T and you will find successes of your own. there is much wisdom to be doled out here on this board. I love it here and am so glad that we are all headed towards the same goals.

                And, keep in mind the first few days people tend to eat more than they need because they are battling the carb cravings as they withdraw. Hang in there and see what a full 14 days will bring. You may be pleasantly surprised. Drink your water, eat your fat and veggies and you will do fine.

                  Thanks to all for your kind suggestions. I have lost 6 lbs. now. Which may not be dramatic but is SOMETHING!
                  I'll add more fat to my meals.

                    Congratulation on your 6 lb. loss! That's great!

                    Maybe you should consider moving up to rung 1 now because, for a lot of people, the extra veggies help speed things up. If it doesn't, you could go back to induction. Just a suggestion.

                      Thanks to all for your helpful suggestions. I seem to be stuck at my 6 lb. loss. I did Atkins years ago and lost like 20 pounds in induction. Could it be the post-menopausal thing? Any suggestions for help with that? I have added fat. And I DO eat a couple of slices of cheese daily. It's my treat. I cut that out and see what happens. also, I'll post my diet on the diet page. Thanks again!

                        Yes post in the menu section. I'll have a look at it. Your body is probably changes some what lately so that may account for why this journey is different from your last one.

                          Hi everyone, I'm glad I read this thread this morning. I realize that with only 25 lbs to my "goal" (it might be my 1st goal) it may be a slower weight loss for me. I really need to eat more vegies I guess. Breakfast is not a vegie meal around here but if I get one of those buckets of mixed greens, I would make a salad for myself. Anyway, at least I'm down 2 in my 1st week and I'm definitely in ketosis, so, I'll just keep slugging away!
