  • I wanted to introduce myself

Hello everyone! I am new to the atkins diet and to the board. I began the diet on April 7th. I have struggled with my weight my whole life and have lost weight in the past, only to gain it back. On the start date of this program my weight was 268! I knew i had gained weight and kept telling myself......I'll get weight loss surgery, I'll go on a diet......sometime. It was last tuesday that I jumped on the wagon. I enjoy reading other individual's stories of why they started to diet, so I will share mine. It was last Tuesday that I was having an emotional day regarding my weight, really for no specific reason. My best friend who I haven't seen in a few months called and wanted to stop by. I thought to myself : I don't want to see her b/c I have gained so much weight. (It has nothing to do with her, it's my insecurities) I made every exscuse for her not to stop by. She did anyways and brought it to my attention that I had gained weight. She did so in a manner that I don't even believe that she realized it. When she left I looked at pictures of myself when I weighed 200 pounds. I was not as big as I had imagined at the time. So this really did not help my already emotional day. I called my friend who recently lost about 100 lbs on atkins. I was upset and crying to him and he says: WHAT IS STOPPING YOU? YOU KNOW YOU CAN DO IT AND I WILL SUPPORT AND EVEN REJOIN YOU. I then went and "atkinized" my kitchen. Out with the bad carbs and in with the good stuff. I am focused and plan to stay that way. This is day 5 and I have lost 5 pounds. Tomorrow is the easter dinner with the family.........so I will have to be strong I just want to be fit and healthy for my daughter and my sake and I look forward to acheiving my weight loss goals and sharing them with you guys. This board seems so supportive. I really think the support will help with my success. Congratulations to all of you for yours! I have read some amazing stories. I look forward to talking with board members soon! Happy Holidays.

Welcome to the board! And congrats on you loss so far; it's a good start!

I have 2 Easter dinners today but all I need to fill me up is a nice slice of ham and a pickled egg or two. I'm not the least bit interested in the rest of the meal. You can do it too! If anyone asks why you aren't eating more, just say 'I'm full'!

        See you around!
