i just want to introduce myself and let everybody know the details to my diet journey.
To start this off i want to tell you why i need to do this diet. I was in a bad car wreck a few years ago and broke my pelvis completly in half in 2 places.
as a result i was confined to a wheelchair for about 8 months then on a walker for a few more then i moved up to crutches and then eventuly a cane.
because of the fact that all i could do was sit around the house i gained 80lbs in the 3 yrs since this has happened. I still have one more surgery to go (hopefully) before i will fully recover. At this point i still have to use a cane to get around and cannot do anywhere near as much exersize i need to to get the weight back off. i have tried many diets and none of them seem to work.
so i feel this is my last option to lose weight.
Another drawback to my situation is i am on a very high dose of liquid methadone for pain control. and thanks to the great people on this site i have found out that the methadone contains 20 carbs of sugar alcholhol
(sorbitol). So im not sure if i can do this diet and stay under 20 carbs a day. One suggetion i have received is to ignore the carbs in the methadone
and just count the carbs from the food i eat. So at this point i am going to start over on monday(4/13/2009) and see how it goes. if anybody has any knowledge to my situation please feel free to let me know.
Well i want to thank everybody who has helped me so far and look forward to sharing my diet journey with everyone. also this is by far the best site i have found for support.

Welcome aboard. I agree, ignore the sorbitol carbs....you could be lucky enough not to process them anyway. Some of the low carb diets out there actually let you start with 45 grams of carbs, so either way, this might work out for you. Make sure your veggies that you do consume are nutrient and fiber rich, not just lettuce. Good luck!!
