  • Hey Everybody

    Hey!

Third time doing Atkins, achieved enormous success previously. I keep gaining weight again though, because I work in remote areas where I live in a camp where they make the food.

However, I went from 285 pounds to 200 the first time. I don't know how much I weigh anymore. It's all about getting the pants to fit.

Hi Slim Sounds like a challenging approach to Atkins. Will you still be living in the camp?

290 lbs. on 11/02/07 Goal: 145 lbs. or size 14 whichever comes first!

No, I've got some time off right now. It's a cycle, but what can I do?

Dare I ask what they generally serve?

They generally serve a variety of different things for supper, but other than the meat (which is often cooked as part of a larger dish, such as spaghetti), the rest the food is not exactly Atkins-friendly. (Not that you would necessarily want to eat the damn food anyway. I've eaten pieces of wood that tasted better than the camp's "prime rib".) The salads all come pre-mixed with salad dressing included, and there's not much in the way of plain, cooked, vegetables. (Of course, they make up for the poor quality of the food by supplying lots of desserts.)

Lunches are always sandwiches. Period. And cookies.

I always eat bacon and eggs in the morning when I'm in camp (although I have slipped and eaten pancakes), but that's not enough. The sandwiches alone are enough to raise your carb count too high, not to mention the lasagna you will be eating for dinner (or whatever). Two slices of bread and a slice of bologna or a small scoop of tuna, and that's it!

I've tried eating sensibly up there, but it is extremely difficult to do.

welcome Slim -- glad you are back! You might want to check out the STAC (second time around club). Make sure you drink at least 64 ounces of pure water everyday - more is better but at least 64 ounces! That's not coffee, tea, kool aid -- it's water!

Get up and do some type of exercise, you will loose faster and get toned quicker! Check out the recipe sites so you don't get bored with the same food over and over. I have no advise on what to do when you are at camp -- I guess pray...LOL!

Good luck to you. We're always here if you need support, have questions or just want to talk!
