  • Hello! I am new, just wanna introduce myself.

Hi! I am new to this site, and I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Rachel. I am 27, from Washington state. I started induction on 4-8-09. My starting weight was 151, and my current weight now is 144. My ultimate goal weight would be 105 lbs. I have been reading through the forums and checking out pictures, and you have all given me great inspiration! I am very determined, and it's great to see how all of you support eachother! =) Any suggestions would be very helpful... Thanks!

Hi Rachel. Welcome aboard. You asked for suggestions so I am going to lay one on you. You are losing fine so far, but I urge you not to wait too long before starting up the rungs. Your weight loss will not slow down (it may even be faster) and you will be learning which foods trigger you before you get to maintenance. It is also a healthier, better balanced diet as you move up. Since you don't have that much to lose, you need to start building those maintenance skills before you get there. I am on rung three and will move to four very soon and my loss is just as fast as induction. I could live on this rung very happily for a long time (and will probably settle here for several weeks). What I like is that I have learned that certain foods, even legal ones, trigger my eating and now I know what those foods are. This would not have happened had I stayed in Induction. I know when I finally get to Maintenance I will already know how to keep myself there (doing it is another story)

OK enough of my preaching on the benefits of OWL. We are glad you are here and glad you are doing so well.

    Give this some thought.

It's not about the results. Its about the process.

hi Rachel -- the best thing you can do for yourself is read the DANDR book (2002 edition), commit to this way of life and make sure you do everything possible to make it through each day without cheating.

Drink at least 64 ounces of water a day, exercise of some sort daily and eat when you are hungry -- dip meat, cheese, veggies anything and everything in mayo for the first few weeks -- eat cream cheese -- add fats to your daily food and you won't be hungry for longer periods of time. Eat when you are hungry and eat until you feel full (not stuffed --- FULL ... big difference).

There are several challenges you can join to keep yourself accountable, not all are exercise challenges, there is a cheat free challenge, water challenge, etc. You don't have much to loose (to you it probably seems that way) so you won't be putting up double digit numbers each week, this isn't the biggest loser! If you need help or encouragement we're all here for each other.

Look around the recipe sites and find meals you can make ahead -- try different things so you don't get bored with the same old thing everyday...I hear so many people say they are so sick of eggs....I eat different things so I don't get sick of 1 food. Good luck on your journey!

Re: Hello! I am new, just wanna introduce myself.

Thank you for the welcome messages, and suggestions. I am very well informed about this way of life, and have read the book, and done plenty of research prior to starting. I appreciate the suggestions. I am now on my 12th day and I am starting to feel better. I am down an even 10 lbs.. but not really noticing any weight loss on my body. Thanks again. =)
