  • I'm new here...

I am new this site but I've done the Atkins plan several time.
I first did Atkins in 2000, I lost 40 lbs in 2 months it was working GREAT, strayed a little off the plan and before I knew it my mind was telling this plan works so good I can always jump back on it later....WRONG!!!! You can jump back on it but I found myself staying off of it for a long time.
I got back on it several other times not real serious though. 2005 me and 5 other guys made a bet, who could lose the most weight so I decided to go back on Atkins...again lost a good amount of weight...50lbs in 2.5 months...AGAIN went off!!! WHY??? I dont know.

Now, me and the wife have decided to try low carb. I havent read any books since 2000, cant remember what that one was called (Atkins though) But we might not be doing exactly what we should but we have lost some weight so far. The first week my wife lost 5 lbs. I lost 7 lbs.

My overall goal is to lose 130 lbs. Hers is to lose 122 lbs.

About me reading more books...Sorry but I hate to read I feel I have A.D.D. cause I can read something and its like I couldnt tell you what the last paragraph said. Sorry but thats just me. So if anyone has any advice for me...please keep it limited to just one paragraph. LOLOLOLOL Just kidding.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Edge Welcome to ADBB. Since you're not going to read the book, at least check out the nasics on this forum, especially under the Phases threads. But you really should read the book.....

      Welcome, Edge

Don't worry about the A.D.D. stuff when getting in to Atkins. Just learn some basic principles and they will be enough to guide you through a vast multitude of dietary choices in food. Principles, that's the key. Keep it simple.

hi Edge -- how about letting your wife read the 2002 Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) book -- that's the edition we use here.....one of you really needs to know the basics to continue on this WOE and get to your goals.

There is plenty of information in the stickie section of the 14 day induction section here Atkins Diet 14-day Induction - Atkins Diet. Also, make sure you are both drinking AT LEAST 64 ounces of water daily (not tea, coffee, soda, kool-aid -- plain water) and exercising daily also. It doesn't have to be running a marathon right off the bat, but you need to walk, climb stairs, dance, whatever you can do.

Good luck to both of you - here are some recipe links so you don't fall into a rut and eat the same old thing
