  • I'm back and got a serious question.

I've been on the atkins several times. I'm 58 yrs young lost 18lb. first 16 days. Company comes in and away I go eating what our company wants to eat haven't gained all the weight but I'm ready to start induction again.

I've had 3 open heart surgeries have high blood pressure and have an artery clogged going to my left kidney and The artery what goes to the back of my heart mussle shows a blockadge. I'm going in tues.4/21 to a cath. lab in Little Rock to get the blockage to my kydney fixed an then we are going to discuss my heart, and more blockage to my legs.

Question? Should I stay on atkins and just eat leaner meats? Or should I get off atkins all together?

Thanx for listnin, Joe aka too big

Joe, people with heart disease can do Atkins. I don't recall seeing any case on the Board, but there are a few case studies in DANDR. I think Chapter 27 will answer most of your questions. Read it before beginning your Atkins journey, so that you don't start your new lifestyle halfhearted and reluctant about its effects on your health.

Hi Joe! Good luck at the cath lab.

Dr. Atkins was a cardiologist but your decision to do the diet has to be a very personal one based on what your doctor thinks about it and how comfortable you are with it.

I wish you the best of luck!
