  • Introducing myself.

    Hey everyone,

I am 5'1 and at the moment hovering between 188 - 192lbs. I am a 20 year old American living in The Netherlands. I'm really new to the Atkins Nutrition Approach, but not to dieting.
Let me explain. On January 4th of 2008 I decided I was not happy with my post birth control body (I gained 50 pounds in the year and a half I was on it plus numerous heath problems) and choose to cut my calories because I knew no better at the time. I also stopped smoking. At first I lost 10lbs then it would stop. A few months later I would lose some more. Between January and September I had lost 20lbs. Nothing since. I went from 208 to 188 and there I have pretty much stayed. Then I came across a book similar to Atkins a few weeks ago and have just started reading Atkins. I am on chapter 5 so far.

I always give 100% to everything I do and I really hope this will work for me. Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Diabetes, and even Fertility problems run in my family, most of whom are overweight or obese. I do not want to follow in my parents foot steps. I am ready to reteach myself the proper nutrition that I never got as a child, and finally let go of my "American" mindset to foods.

I have been looking through some of the threads, mostly the before and after shots and I just have to say that everyone looks great. I can't wait to post my success one day.

Please feel free to ask me anything you would like to know about me.

      Re: Introducing myself.

ohbehave, I am so glad you found Atkins. Once you get past induction and start adding in other foods, you will probably find this an extremely rewarding way of eating, both in weight loss and in general health benefits.

You have a great advantage in that you are able to commit 100% from the start.

Planning is everything. Make sure you have your refrigerator and cupboards stocked with legal foods. Keep legal snacks in your refrigerator and on your person when you go out.

Take before measurements and pictures so you can share your progress with us.

And if you have any questions or problems, do let us know.

So glad you joined us, and wishing you the very best!

welcome to Atkins. The best thing I hear you say is that you are 100% committed to this WOE -- that is crucial and if you really mean it you will do wonderfully!
