hi i am not new to atkins ive tried it quite a few times but i guess i really didnt get it. i recently was told by my doctor that i am insulin resistant and that i will probably have a tough time losing weight [i already knew that.] so upon reading all i can pretty much everything tells me that the best thing you can do is live low carb. ive been on induction for 2 weeks now and ive lost 8 pounds which is great. but today i had a little piece of cake it was a family members birthday. im not going to beat myself up because if i do ill only resort to finishing off the cake. however i know this is not an allowed food... i pat myself on the back for going as long as i did but, what i realized after eating that cake was i dont miss it i truely dont need it. that was a good lesson to learn i have noticed i do feel alot better since ive cut down on the carbs and it im not having that rollercoaster of sugar highs and lows just thought id write a little note about my experience

Re: not missing cake
Nice to hear that you got over the cake thing. There are really many yummy things you can have on Atkins especially as you move up the OWL ladder.
Glad you are back and full of motivation. Keep posting. It helps to stay on track.

Re: not missing cake
Good for you for realizing that you don't really want or need all that sugar! I'm the same way, I eat something I shouldn't and think, 'that didn't ever taste good. I can't believe I used to crave it'! When you give your body what it really needs, it stops wanting the junk. That was a great lesson for you and it means that you have come a long way since the 'old' days. Keep up the good work!
