  • Hi Everyone!! New here!! :-)

    Hi!!

About me! I am a 40 something (cough) stay at home mommy to two beautiful children-boy/girl twins!! After having babies later in life-I was 40, my body has not recovered. And being home all day I just chow, chow, chow and I have gained too much weight. So, I am back on the Atkins diet again! I have tried it before with great results. The only thing I hate is that if you go from total Atkins diet back to unrestricted carbs you gain it all back in like 5 secs flat. But we can't have everything, right? So, this time I plan on staying on restricted carbs for the duration. I am hoping when I get skinny and feel good I will want to stay that way. In the past I have always done the Atkins diet before going on cruises, so once I got on the cruise it was carb overload, so I sort of set myself up to fail. Anyway, being rather tall, I was always so skinny and could eat anything I wanted and always had a great body. Now that I am older, it seems so much harder to lose weight. So, I am joining you all here and hope to get some great ideas about what else to eat-feel like I am eating the same old things and have some fun and most importantly, shed tons of weight!!

    Welcome to the Board.

This is why Dr. Atkins said we should progress through all the phases of Atkins -- Induction, Ongoing Weight Loss, Pre-Maintenance and Maintenance. It is a lifestyle rather than a diet.

Anything that is unrestricted, be it carbohydrates, fat or protein, will cause one to gain weight. But one thing I love about Atkins is the variety of delicious foods we are able to eat and lose weight, all without being hungry. Those fattening carbohydrates in junk/processed food or in foods we have an intolerance to are substituted with real, nutritious food that our bodies can handle. This is something both your health and your waistline will benefit from.

Hi, Fairy Girl (you need to get yourself some wings, check out mine!) and welcome to ADBB!

A big congrats on attaining Mommyhood ... the baby weight will come off w/Atkins. Check in with this board often; every day, if you can .... awesome place for moral support and info. You keeping a food diary? A lot of us use FitDay, the free online diary ... very helpful; you can track your food, exercise, weight ... etc. And take it one day at a time ... celebrate your mini-victories 'cos they add up! Baby steps

You are SOOOO right and this time when I am thin and happy with the way I look I will think twice about what I put in my mouth. And remember that often times I have had bread and carby things and not enjoyed them!! There are soo many great things this diet allows, so I am going to try the whole program!! Thanks for the support and encouragement and wise words!!!
