  • What a great support network!

Hi, I started the program yesterday after gaining 80 lbs in the past year. I am hopeful to get the support I'll need to try again....There's so much great information on this site!

Re: What a great support network!

hi Flip -- welcome and glad you found us!!! After the first few days you will have energy to burn, you will start feeling wonderful about yourself and best of all you won't be hungry!!! That has to be the best part, the food is satisfying and tastes delicious.

I hope you have a copy of the 2002 DANDR book - that's what we go by here on the board...drink at least 64 ounces of clear water a day (not coffee, tea, soda - those don't count toward the 64 ounces). Find some form of exercise you like to do and will do and start as soon as possible. I've gone from walking to the corner 3 months ago to 2 mile walks and 15 to 20 miles on a stationary bike - the energy is wonderful!

Here are some links to help you out....make sure you only eat foods on the acceptable food list -- if it's not on the list don't put it in your mouth...stay away from the bars and shakes they are not good for you!!! I'm also sending you recipe sites so you can find how to make more delicious foods...make sure you only eat induction foods to begin with!!

You will do fine -- if you have any questions we're always here to help!!

I started a thread several days ago, maybe almost 2 weeks ago about my dry mouth and now I can't find it. How do I find an old thread of mine?

CUCUMBER SALSA This recipe was created to accompany Smoked Whitefish Cakes with Cucumber Salsa. Can be prepared in 45 minutes or less. 2 cups finely chopped seeded.

Re: What a great support network!

Thanks! I wonder if there are any "legal" sweet things to eat at this point? Also, I need to know about an evening cocktail...I've got my cupboards full of meats, fish, eggs and cheese...Any feedback?

Your evening cocktail is out for awhile -- alcohol is added back in rung 5. As far as legal sweet treats the recipe sites I sent you have some snacks you might like.

Flip, here's a whole bunch of information on OWL. Ongoing Weight Loss (OWL) - Atkins Diet

It's a system of adding in foods gradually after your induction so you don't re-trigger the cravings you conquer in Induction and sabotage your weight loss.
