    I started the atkins diet yesterday. This is extremely hard for me. If there is anyone who has pointers I would apreciate it so much. I have been overweight most of my life, and I've failed at every diet imaginable, I'm not begging, but asking for support.

    Welcome to ADBB!

    Our board is based upon the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR for short). Definitely get a copy of that to read. There is also a wealth of information to be found here on the board. Make sure to read the "stickies" at the top of the Induction and OWL (Ongoing Weight Loss) forums. These are great posts that have been "stuck" there for everyone to see.

    Stay close to the board, and post often. There is an amazing amount of support and motivation to be had.

        hi and welcome cowgirl! You are in a great place for support because we all have the same type of story and understand each other.

        The 3 biggest things I can tell you is eat only food on the acceptable food list (no shakes and bars!!), drink at least 64 ounces of water each day (the more the better) and exercise -- even if it's walking to the corner or dancing around your bedroom -- you need to get up and move.

          Hey cowgirl!
          You have come to the right place for support. Look at the before and after pictures, and read the celebration forum. Both of these offer some great inspiration. Don't think about how hard it is for you in the begining. Think about what you are going to look and feel like while lossing the weight! To me this is not a hard diet, it's all about how creative you can be. YOU CAN DO THIS!!!
