  • Hello everyone!!!!

Hi, I am new to this site and am coming back to Atkins after being on South Beach for alittle over a year.

I am 41, and knock on wood, healthy and about a year ago realized my life was in a place where I could actually get back to the gym regularly. I have always liked to workout and jumped right into it. Having been on Atkins after the birth of my son, 10 yrs ago, I knew all of the great benefits, but my busy lifestyle with a young active family, I found south beach alittle more flexible for an "on the run" person.

I started the gym January 2008 at 174 lbs & 34% body fat. I am 5'8" and big boned and have always been "thick" arms, legs etc. I am now at 155 and have been stuck there for a couple of months. Decided to go back to Atkins to try to lose what may be left. While working out I was consistent about weight training because I knew eventually my insanely stubborn body fat would come off and when that happened I wanted to be ready. I am now at the point of wanting to lean down some more maybe 24% - 20% I am not sure where it will end up but I am keeping an open mind.

I am also hoping to learn here if I should be doing anything special nutrition wise, protein, carbs etc to start to build a little more muscle
Well that it in a nutshell.
    Wishing everyone well - April

      Re: Hello everyone!!!!

      Welcome to the board, April!

Atkins is a great diet for muscle building because of the protein and lack of nasty things like flour and sugar. And your weight lifting is the key to shaping and toning so you are already on the right track.

Do you have the 2002 edition of the Atkins New Diet Revolution? It's the one we use on the board and really is essential in understanding the diet.

Keep us posted on your progress!
