  • Hello from Missouri aka..Missery haha

Hiya! I am new to this, I went from 250-160 pretty fast from a bout with severe anxiety, I was living off of a piece of chicken and some crackers a day. Well, now that I have that anxiety under control, I am at a STALL, I am trying to eat correctly again, but my metabolism went to pot when I was basically starving myself. I have tried the so called 3 day diet, HA!! I have tried eating like I did before, not working because my nerves aren't shot anymore. Sooo my best friend told me to try Atkins and that she had great success with it. I love the idea of a diet that tells you to eat as much meat as you like. I have even tried slim fast, buttt I didn't like the idea that one of the main ingredients was SUGAR!!! EEEEK!!!

I am glad that this thread is open, gives people a chance to really open up, because we are all facing the same things and sharing the same GOALS that will do us all great in the long run!!! My goal weight is 120 so 40 to go, I hope I can get all that off before summer is over, I want to sport that bathing suit and ROCK IT CHILD!!

welcome to ADBB -- I live in MO also so the name of your thread caught my eye.

Make sure you eat only foods on the acceptable food list, you learn and follow the rules of induction, you drink at least 64 ounces of pure water a day and exercise daily. We follow the 2002 DANDR book - it would be wise to get a copy so you know the reasoning and science behind the plan and why it works.

Here are some links to help you get started -- on the recipe sites make sure you are using induction friendly recipes to begin with. Good luck

        Welcome to the board, Roses!

This is definitely a much better way of eating than starving yourself and you should do well on it. Just watch how many carbs you're eating and drink your water.

Some exercise will help too. There are lots of challenges on the board so maybe you could join one or two of them because they really keep you motivated.

        Good luck to you!

Re: Hello from Missouri aka..Missery haha

That day, no I had only the swiss cheese, I was so full I couldn't put anything else in my mouth, but I have been adding mayo just a table spoon to my supper, which is usally beef, or chicken or turkey, I believe I am in Ketosis becauseee the energy surge, and Im getting full quicker on not to much, and the sweet taste in my mouth sometimes mixed with a metal taste, and also some heartburn...dunno what do you think, I started the diet thursday morning.

you need the vegetables each day - make sure you get them in...if you have to eat them before anything else. The sweet taste in your mouth is a sign of ketosis.

Re: Hello from Missouri aka..Missery haha

Ohhhh happy day I have been on Atkins since Thursday April 23rd and I am down 12 lbs. Not to mention that wonderful TOM, I wonder if it could have been more if it hadn't been for that pesky Mother Nature and her *present* grrr...But I am in ketosis, I have the wonderful signs, the breath, the naseau, the bubbly urine..(kinda funny) and I get full so fast!!! I had to weighh myself twice to make sure the scale wasn't foolin with me!! I love this diet, and it seems to be the only one that works because me and carbs never have been friends, well, taste wise they have..hip wise no....Ohhh and the thirst for water!! Yikes!! I drink more water than I ever have in my life!

like everyone else said, 3 cups of veggies a day is your top priority. eat them first before meat if you have to. also use fitday to make sure your percents are right
