  • Atkins while nursing?

Hello! Im trying to decide if I can be doing the Atkins diet...

Im 22 years old and have 2 little girls. I only want to lose about 20lb, but Im nursing my youngest still.

For the past few days Ive been doing what I would consider a 'modified' version of the Atkins diet. I havent been counting my carbs too much, but Ive cut out all bread, rice, pasta, starchy vegetables, and of course sweets.

Since monday or so, I believe it was monday, Ive already lost 4lb.

Once I reach my goal weight, should I keep with the Atkins diet, or should I go back to my regular healthy eating? I dont want to lose too much weight, I just need to lose some body fat.

Oh, and also. Ive made my ticker, but I cant figure out how to get it to show up. Which code do I copy, and where do I paste it?

    Thanks!!

You'll have to do what doctors say here and not find out on your own skin what happens. Pregnant women and nursing mothers can follow the Maintenance phase of Atkins. However, they should not follow any of its weight loss phases.

    Nice. Congratulations!

Right. So on Atkins you do not only lose weight. The diet has four different phases: Induction, Ongoing Weight Loss, Pre-Maintenance and Maintenance. What most people discover (the hard way) is that they are not able to maintain their weight loss if they do not progress through all this different phases. I'm not sure what your "regular healthy eating" is, but Atkins is also healthy. During OWL you will introduce all those foods you were eating before -- fresh cheeses, yogurt, nuts, fruits, starchy vegetables, whole grain pasta -- but in quantities that are permited by your CCLL and by the Rules of OWL. During Maintenance you will be able to eat almost anything other than sugar, white flour and foods you have an intolerance to. Since these are not healthy anyway, the Maintenance phase might be very similar to your "regular healthy eating".

First you need to copy the BB code. Then go to Quick Links, then click on Edit Signature and paste the BB code in the text box you'll see there. Then click Save and you should see the ticker in your signature.
