  • Time for a change

Hello all!! I am new to the board and to the Adkins lifestyle. I started about 4 weeks ago with my wife. During the induction phase all was well. I lost around 20 lbs the first two weeks. Then the trip to Florida came and the plans we had to "be good" didn't last as long as we thought. During the trip I managed to gain back 4 lbs. Not horrible for a 10 day trip but bad enough. I am having trouble getting restarted. We have been back for two weeks. I restarted the induction phase but I had a slip last night. 4 slices of pizza later I realized that this has got to stop. So instead of saying it to myself I am writting it down in the hopes that it will help me stay on target. I feel better, neighbors and family say they can see a difference but best of all is I sleep better. I want to be here to walk my girls down the isle at their weddings and be able to run and play with them while they are still young. This has to be it. I can't expect my body to carry this much weight without any serious medical conditions for much longer. It's time to refocus and get motivated. My new life starts again.... today!!!

Good luck to you --- you need to get your cravings under control and the best way to do that is by following Atkins to the letter. I hope you have a copy of the 2002 DANDR book and have read it -- it will explain so many things for you. When you "think" you are hungry drink a large glass of clear water -- our bodies think we're hungry when many times we're actually dehydrated. You've had your vacation, now it's time to settle down!! If you need anything all you have to do is ask!

Here are some recipe sites to help -- make sure you are eating induction recipes to begin with.

Welcome to the board, bigling! And congrats on losing 20 lbs and not letting your vacation ruin it all! They can really wreak havoc on any diet if you let them.

You have the right attitude and now you just need to rid your house of all the carbage and make sure you have plenty of legal foods available at all times to take away the temptation until you are well enough into the plan that you have lost your cravings. Having your wife doing the diet with you will help tremendously so good luck to both of you!
